“We are excited to expand Marriott’s presence in Brazil with the opening of the stunning JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo, our first luxury hotel in the city. Inspired Design
JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo was conceived after extensive research on Brazilian architecture, landscaping, craftsmanship and natural resources, to prioritize national materials in its construction. Renowned, U.S.-based architecture firm HKS, Inc. developed and brought to life the bespoke design elements found throughout the hotel’s public spaces, guest rooms and suites. The expertly manicured landscaping was designed by architect Sérgio Santana, who prioritized native trees from the Atlantic Forest and plants from the natural biome to attract birds and native animals.

When entering the lobby, guests can admire a captivating custom installation incorporating fiber optics and crystals, reminiscent of a starry sky, along with exclusive artwork created by renowned Brazilian artist Burle Marx and São Paulo painter and designer Antonio Malta.

“JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo is an oasis in the heart of the city. The property will offer programs that encourage its guests to take care of the mind, nourish the body and revitalize the soul. In addition, the hotel seeks to redefine the concept of luxury in this metropolis, with world-class services, loyalty to the local culture, providing a welcome respite from the concrete jungle that surrounds it,” said Rosana Okamoto, General Manager, JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo.

Subtle touches that provide for moments of respite and reflection such as an artfully designed installation that showcases a gentle flow cascading water as a nod to the nearby waterfront. A curated selection of artwork crafted by renowned Brazilian artists is spotlighted throughout the thoughtfully designed public spaces, guest rooms and suites.

Immersive Culinary Experiences
Neto was conceived as an Italian restaurant in the city of São Paulo, not exclusive to hotel guests, but open to all visitors. The idea is that both guests and travelers can mingle in the large two-story hall, which features Brazilian wood and marble detail, reminiscent of the diversity of the state of São Paulo. The kitchen, headed by Chef Ícaro Rizzo, mixes Italian techniques with local and fresh ingredients abundant in São Paulo, to help revisit classic dishes. The space will be open from Monday to Sunday.

Bar Caju is the centerpiece of the hotel’s lobby and invites locals and visitors to try refreshing drinks inspired by classic cocktails made with traditional Brazilian ingredients.

Replenished Spirits, Meaningful Connections
The hotel spa spotlights contemporary design elements combined with a color palette of soothing earth tones, natural textures, and plush furnishings. Guests will discover 10 tranquil treatment rooms ranging in size from 100 square feet for individuals, to the couple’s room at more than 200 square feet, all evoking peace and repose. Skilled providers offer an indulgent menu of therapies incorporating indigenous fruits and flowers, each crafted to renew body and mind. The hotel also features a modern, fully equipped fitness center with a private yoga room, indoor-outdoor pool and steam room.

Bespoke Events and Celebrations
JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo houses a fully equipped Convention Center with more than 10,000 square feet of space. The expansive venue has six private rooms with large windows that receive natural light where one can see the lush nature preserve nearby.

Marriott International currently operates ten properties in Brazil and more than 300 in the Caribbean and Latin American region.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by the artfully designed porte-cochère that leads to a stylish Welcome Desk featuring bold colors and textures inspired by the romanticism of a snake charmer – a nod to the Middle East’s history of mystique and its mix of poets, storytellers, and performers who brought the energy of the region to life. Inside, the W Lounge – the brand’s take on the hotel lobby – pays homage to famed, Middle Eastern gold souks, with rich, warm hues and gold accents to create a lively, modern-day bazaar. Guests can connect over imaginative cocktails and savory bites infused with local flavors, complemented by live music and nightly DJ sets.

W Dubai – Mina Seyahi features 318 rooms including 27 suites – all sea-facing with a private balcony – where guests can take in Dubai’s vibrant sunsets over the Arabian Gulf, Palm Jumeirah Island and iconic landmarks such as the Ain Dubai. The chic design blends accents of traditional Middle Eastern elements in a bright, inviting space with thoughtful touches. Vibrantly hued interiors and custom furnishings featuring layers of highly textured fabrics with modern lustre honor the destination and its trade route heritage. Separate living, vanity and sleeping spaces, as well as the brand’s signature Mix Bar, are welcomed luxuries.

For the most elevated experience, the Extreme WOW Suite – W’s twist on a Presidential Suite – perched on the 30th floor is a 3,000 square-foot contemporary space featuring two bedrooms, a lounge, dining area and a balcony with sweeping views of the city below.

Something for Every Appetite

W Dubai – Mina Seyahi’s dining and nightlife options will captivate travellers and locals who gather in search of local and globally inspired flavors, or a tucked-away cocktail lounge. Located on the second floor, Ginger Moon is W Dubai – Mina Seyahi’s urban all-day club experience offering innovative lunch, sunset and dinner menus. Airy and light, this seamless indoor-outdoor space opens to an expansive terrace leading to an infinity pool that highlights panoramic views from the Mina Seyahi Bay. The W brand’s signature take on the poolside scene – WET Deck – offers guests a fresh space to soak up the sun poolside or under the refreshing shade of a cabana while enjoying cocktails, bites and eclectic music.

Opening June 2022, ATTIKO is a sleek, high-energy rooftop lounge set to become the latest hotspot in the city. An upscale venue boasting enviable views, ATTIKO will be the place to be from sundowners to late-night gatherings with a mix of live music or DJs playing the latest high-octane tracks. ATTIKO will serve imaginative cuisine featuring a curated selection of modern and classic Pan-Asian dishes and an extensive menu of international beer, wine and signature handcrafted cocktails.

Set to open in 2023, Malakite beach club and pool will be ideally situated on the private beach, accessible only to residents and hotels guests, offering a two-in-one concept in over 86,000 square feet of space, set around a 50-meter-long pool and private beach. Sun-seekers can expect surprise performances throughout the day and, as the sun sets, the action will move into the nearly 13,000 square-foot indoor arena for a spectacle of talented artists that will redefine the entertainment experience for Dubai residents and travelers alike.

Marriott International Celebrates Its 1,000th Hotel in Europe, Middle East and Africa

The Westin London City - View From Queenhithe Dock.jpg
The Westin London City

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) today celebrated the launch of The Westin London City, its 1,000th hotel in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). A flagship Westin Hotel that seamlessly balances London’s always-on energy with the wellness promise for which the brand is known, the property also marks the debut of the Westin Hotels & Resorts brand in the UK market.

As the company celebrated this milestone, it also announced that across 2022 and 2023, it expects to add more than 200 properties, which equates to 38,000 rooms, in Europe, Middle East and Africa

“I’m very proud of reaching 1,000 Marriott International hotels across EMEA. This growth milestone is symbolic of our rich history and bright future, and it feels fitting that our 1,000th property is a fantastic Westin in London,” said Satya Anand, President, Marriott International, EMEA. “Last year alone, we opened nearly 90 properties across EMEA, including brand debuts in destinations such as Ibiza, Reykjavík and Cairo, as well as additional openings in established markets such as London and Dubai. I am excited to further enhance our portfolio, bringing even more unique travel experiences to our guests, and look forward to continuing to drive value for our owners and franchisees through our world-class brands, comprehensive business support systems and our industry-leading loyalty platform, Marriott Bonvoy.”

Select-Service Spearheads Growth in Europe

Marriott International’s select-service brands, such as AC by Marriott, Moxy Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Aloft Hotels, Element Hotels and Four Points by Sheraton, continue to spearhead growth across Europe, accounting for more than 50 percent of the company’s current signed pipeline of hotels in the Europe region. Moxy Hotels, Marriott’s bold and experiential hotel brand created for the young at heart, is slated to add more than 26 additional hotels to its portfolio in the region across 2022 and 2023, with planned openings including the Moxy Liverpool City Centre (UK), Moxy Paris East (France) and Moxy Pompeii (Italy).

Set to make its European debut in 2023, Fairfield by Marriott is expected to see two hotels open next year – the Fairfield by Marriott Badhoevedorp Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (The Netherlands) and Fairfield by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn (Denmark). With its effortlessly relaxed and efficient hotel design paired with a contemporary Northern European aesthetic, the brand continues to attract interest from owners across the region.

The extended-stay segment remains extremely resilient in Europe, especially with the rise of multi-purpose travel. Last year, the company opened four Residence Inn by Marriott hotels across Europe and plans to extend its reach with 15 more Residence Inn by Marriott hotels expected to open in city hotspots like Naples (Italy), Vienna (Austria) and Paris (France) across 2022 and 2023.

Conversions continue to be an important driver of rooms growth across Europe, particularly from independent hotels, given the appeal of Marriott’s powerful distribution systems. Conversions represent approximately 30 percent of the expected hotel openings in Europe across 2022 and 2023, and owner interest remains high for the company’s robust portfolio of collection brands – Autograph Collection Hotels, The Luxury Collection, and Tribute Portfolio.

Luxury Booms in the Middle East

Luxury hotels and residential properties continue to be in high demand with consumers, especially across the Middle East, representing over 20 percent of the company’s signed pipeline units in the region. This year’s highly anticipated openings include W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, slated to open in April 2022, and in May this year, the company expects to introduce The Ritz-Carlton brand in Jordan with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Amman.

The company also continues to support the growth of the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with four luxury hotels expected to open across 2022 and 2023. Planned additions include two luxury hotels at the highly anticipated Red Sea Project including The St. Regis Red Sea Resort. Qatar is also expected to see the addition of four luxury hotels across 2022 and 2023, including the stunning Palais Vendôme, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Doha and The Doha EDITION.

Marriott also continues to see growth in the branded residential sector in the Middle East, heralding a new era of residential luxury. Branded residences are poised to meet evolving lifestyle changes and growing interest from homeowners in on-demand amenities and services from trusted brands. Marriott recently opened W Residences Dubai – The Palm, which features 104 homes spread over eight mansions, and expects to add four more branded residential projects in the Middle East across 2022 and 2023, including The Residences at The St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island, The Pearl Qatar.

Continued Expansion Across the African Continent

The recent signing of the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge in Kenya is expected to mark the brand’s debut in the country and in the luxury safari space, reinforcing Marriott International’s commitment to the African continent.

The company expects to open more than 20 hotels in Africa across 2022 and 2023. Among these are six Protea Hotels by Marriott properties, including the 200-room Protea Hotel by Marriott Accra Kotoka Airport in Ghana and Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Polokwane in South Africa. These hotels will give guests a taste of the local flavour in a truly authentic way. The expected openings across the region also include five Four Points by Sheraton hotels, marking the brand’s debut in Rwanda with the Four Points by Sheraton Kigali and the brand’s expansion in Nigeria with the addition of Four Points by Sheraton Ikot Ekpene.

“As we emerge from the global pandemic, we continue to see strong owner demand for Marriott’s portfolio of 30 trusted hotel brands,” said Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Marriott International, EMEA. “With a growing base of global Marriott Bonvoy members who are adapting to changing travel requirements in order to enjoy those all-important breaks away, we believe the future of travel is bright. We look forward to continuing to work with our owners and franchisees to develop more exciting projects in gateway cities, resort areas, and locations where our customers aspire to travel.”

Rooted in Mindfulness JW Marriott Launches Garden Collaboration with Lily Kwong

840 560 wttc2

Lily Kwong and JW Garden Installation at JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa

JW Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary hotel brands, today announces the debut of three herb gardens envisioned and planted by renowned landscape designer Lily Kwong as part of the brand’s JW Garden program. Kwong, whose reverence for nature comes to life through her breathtaking botanical installations, is the founder of Studio Lily Kwong, a next-generation landscape design studio with a mission to reconnect people to nature. JW Marriott is guided by similar principles, with a commitment to mindfulness that allows guests to be present in mind, nourished in body and revitalized in spirit – pillars that directly align to the JW Garden experience. Kwong’s JW Garden projects are currently growing at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa; JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa; and JW Marriott Essex House New York.

Rooted in Marriott family tradition, the JW Garden is inspired by founder J. Willard Marriott who took daily nature walks, as well as his wife Alice, who grew fruits, vegetables and herbs for her legendary Sunday night dinners. Today, JW Marriott hotels around the world grow fresh produce and herbs in their own JW Garden, which are used in recipes, cocktails, oils and more.

“There is a synergy that exists between JW Marriott’s point of view on well-being and Lily Kwong’s passion for bringing people back to nature,” said Bruce Rohr, Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott. “Our JW Garden program invites guests to enjoy serene spaces and find balance while staying with us – the garden instantly acts as a respite for the mind and spirit and later nourishes the body through its gifts. Lily is further elevating the JW Garden experience and we cannot wait for guests to enjoy her vision.”

THE JW GARDEN INTERPRETED BY LILY KWONG
Studio Lily Kwong incorporated sustainable practices in each JW Garden including the use of repurposed, low-emission materials such as stucco; water-conserving techniques such as drip irrigation and mulching; and the omission of spray pesticides and fungicides common in commercial gardens. In addition to the gardens she has planted, Kwong’s expertise will be shared through a JW Garden Toolkit, which will be shared with other JW Garden projects around the world.

Providing a thoughtful, multi-sensory experience, while also supporting the hotel’s culinary programs, Kwong and her team centered each JW Garden around aromatic herbs. A signature herb was chosen for each to be harvested and used throughout the guest experience – from garnishes and butters in the kitchens to oils and scrubs at the spas. This was the first time Studio Lily Kwong has built gardens with herbs at their core and the result is a trio of traditional kitchen gardens with a twist, blending mindful moments such as a meditative pathway through olive trees at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa and Shou Sugi Ban benches inside the JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa. To further honor the collaboration and tie back to the mission of the JW Garden program, JW Marriott will donate to one of Lily’s favorite charitable organizations in each destination.

“An herb garden is a beautiful portal to reconnect us back to the land and our senses,” said Lily Kwong. “Our JW Garden projects were designed to honor traditional kitchen gardens, but Studio Lily Kwong’s artistic approach to plant life adds unique and unexpected dimensions to each project. We are thrilled that JW Marriott guests will not only enjoy our gardens’ beauty, but also their bounty. Our greatest aspiration is that our work might inspire some guests to go home and grow their very own herb garden.”

JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa

Description: Inspired by the diverse landscape of the California desert, Kwong and her team used native plants and edible herbs chosen for their therapeutic properties. With organically shaped garden beds that morph into hidden seating, the garden features peaceful walking paths and shade trees to mitigate the desert heat, inviting guests to rest and reflect. The garden also features a planting palette of endemic sages, desert marigold, milkweed and wildflowers to provide habitat and ecosystem support to fauna and insects.

Signature Herb: Sage

Also Growing: Rosemary, Prickly Pear, Olive Trees

Charitable Partner: Mojave Desert Land Trust, an organization whose mission is to protect the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values. The donation will provide fourteen growing benches for a shade house, education signage and support the growth of 1,200 plants annually.

JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa

Description: In addition to drawing inspiration from the legacy of citrus in Orlando agriculture, Kwong and her team chose herbs with strong aromatic power as scent has a direct route to the limbic system – a direct connection to emotion and memory. It is Kwong’s hope that the garden – with its inviting seating and calming vignettes – will help embed joyful memories for guests.

Signature Herb: Rosemary

Also Growing: Thyme, Lavender, Chives, Oregano, Mint, Marjoram, Orange, Kumquat, Tangerine, Meyer Lemon

Charitable Partner: Orlando City Foundation, an organization that brings soccer to under-served communities by investing in safe places to play, urban gardens and access to healthy food choices. Two new school gardens will be built as a result of the donation, with produce going to the community.

JW Marriott Essex House New York

Description: Inspired by the hotel’s exquisite Art Deco roots, Kwong and her team created a terrarium that serves as both a botanical art piece and sets a new standard for an indoor edible garden. Sitting in the hotel’s grand lobby, the garden takes cues from the design of Central Park – which can be seen through adjacent windows – and renowned landscape architect Frank Law Olmstead. It sits inside a custom-designed millinery cabinet with nods to the design of the hotel’s facade and interiors, created by a master fabricator (Līmen

Studio) using an ancient Japanese Shou Sugi Ban process.

Signature Herb: Mint

Also Growing: Lavender, Thyme, Rosemary, Marjoram, Chives, Oregano

Charitable Partner: GrowNYC’s Greening program, which has been building and supporting community gardens, urban farms and other open space projects across New York City since 1975. The resulting donation will support their one-acre Teaching Garden on Governors Island, a popular field trip destination giving NYC students an opportunity to plant, water, harvest, and cook fruits, vegetables and herbs.

THE GIFT OF GREEN
Both Lily and JW Marriott hope the JW Garden inspires guests to plant a garden of their own and have created an Herb Garden Kit Curated by Studio Lily Kwong for JW Marriott featuring: Halden Garden heirloom Thyme, Mint and Oregano seeds; Kanso planters made of upcycled rice husk, bamboo fiber and wheat husk waste; JW Marriott chef-crafted recipe cards; and a journal collaboration with poet Mia Moretti. Studio Lily Kwong chose these powerful herbs as they grow perennially, meaning when transplanted into the ground, they will grow back every season for an endless bounty. The Herb Garden Kit is available through Curated by JW on Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques, a collection of online retail stores selling exclusive bed, bedding, fragrance, and other bespoke items from a number of the leading hospitality company’s 30 extraordinary hotel brands.

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Reveals Its New Vision in Canada

The brand’s new design approach is built upon creating community-fluid spaces that feel warm and inviting. Pictured above: Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport.

The new look of Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is enlivened in Canada, signaling renewed optimism following one of the most challenging times for the travel sector. Sheraton, the most global brand within Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, is debuting its new modernized look with extensive renovations at three flagship properties in Canada – Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, and Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel. These hotels join the growing number of properties around the world exemplifying the brand’s design transformation, with nearly 50 hotels expected to be completed by year’s end.

“This marks another significant moment for Sheraton as our new vision arrives in Canada and continues to build momentum for our transformation journey around the world,” said Amanda Nichols, Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “We have long been part of the social fabric of communities across Canada and as travel resumes, we look forward to welcoming guests into this exciting new chapter for Sheraton.”

Drawing on its roots as a community hub for locals and guests, the new approach for Sheraton creates an intuitive and holistic experience with spaces to connect, be productive, and help travelers feel connected to the local community. In addition to seamless technology integration and an elevated food and beverage philosophy, the layered design balances a sense of timelessness with a fresh and modern feel, that aims to create an environment where guests feel comfortable and at ease, whether working, meeting or relaxing.

Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport: Ready for Take-Off

Following nearly two years of renovation work, Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport is ready to debut a dramatically different airport hotel experience. The 484-room hotel, one of Canada’s busiest, has undergone a massive $30 million makeover bringing technology, design, and style to the international stopover, as part of Sheraton’s global design transformation. The renovation, now fully complete, is the latest example of an emerging generation of airport hotels that are intended to function as destinations, places where one might reasonably stay longer than a single night.

A captivating new arrival experience greets guests as they walk from the terminal through the doors of the hotel, the only property directly connected to the Toronto airport. Featuring a contemporary aesthetic, the lobby serves as the heart of the guest experience featuring brand signatures such as the Community Table, The Studios, sound-proof Booths – all fostering productivity, and &More by Sheraton – the brand’s signature bar, coffee, market concept. Additional amenities include a sophisticated Sheraton Club lounge, swimming pool and whirlpool, 24-hour fitness room and Peloton studio, updated meeting spaces, and completely remodeled guest rooms and suites.

“The transformation is nothing short of a metamorphosis,” says Douglas Brennan, General Manager, Sheraton Gateway in Toronto International Airport. “We’re excited to welcome guests to discover our modernized look.”

Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel: Marks 50th Anniversary with Complete Reimagining

Toronto’s iconic Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel has been a staple in the downtown core for decades. The hotel has been completely reimagined with renovations and enhancements from top to bottom that continue to roll out throughout 2022 and mark the most extensive renovation in the hotel’s 50-year history.

As part of the first phase of the property’s reimagining, the exclusive Sheraton Club – floating in the clouds on the 43rd floor – welcomed a new look, experience, and service style in October. Available to Marriott Bonvoy Elite members and guests who upgrade their stay, the premium 15,000 square-foot gathering space is welcoming, elevated, and purposefully designed for a layered and engaging experience that transitions seamlessly with activations from morning to evening. Guests will find updated food and beverage offerings, premium amenities, enhanced connectivity, and 24/7 access to provide a private environment.

The second phase introduces two new food and beverage outlets including the recently opened Dual Citizen – a coffeehouse style grab and go during the day, transitioning to a lobby bar in the evenings. Opening this spring, 43 Down will be a departure from the traditional hotel restaurant. With its beverage-forward concept, 43 Down focuses on mixology as an art form, delivering perfectly on the classics through handcrafted cocktails. Offering locally inspired flavors from Toronto’s diverse culinary scene, 43 Down blends intimacy and connectedness, acting as a backdrop for an informal business meeting or social gathering.

The final phases are expected to roll out this spring with the unveiling of public spaces and amenities that foster community-building and productivity. This can be seen through the bustling spaces featuring the brand’s signature Community Tables, tech-enabled Studios, and soundproofed Booths, and purpose-built workspaces, found in the expansive hotel lobby. Additionally, the indoor/outdoor heated pool experience is slated to re-open summer 2022.

“It’s been an incredible journey watching the vision come to life. We’re bringing something entirely new to Toronto’s downtown core,” shares Tim Reardon, General Manager, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. “Already, we’ve had the pleasure of watching our guests admire the purposeful design elements and service upgrades in our Sheraton Club which opened this past fall. We cannot wait to welcome our guests back to see our completely transformed lobby area, food and beverage outlets, indoor and outdoor pool, as well as the exterior and port cochere.”

Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel: Sophisticated Urban Oasis

Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, the newly renovated Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel is ready to welcome guests to its 825 newly renovated guest rooms and suites. The serene, light-filled spaces range in size from a generous 310 sq ft to a sprawling 1,956 sq ft for the Presidential Suite. In the new rooms and suites, guests are welcomed into a bright, well-lit space with warm, residential appeal, along with new tools for productivity, such as a height-adjustable work table, integrated power and charging and layered lighting.

The Sheraton Club, located on the 37th floor of the hotel, is expected to reopen May 2022 with a bold new look and breathtaking views. True to the brand’s vision, the stylish and exclusive space is welcoming, elevated, and purposefully designed for an engaging experience, along with complimentary breakfast, evening appetizers, and a selection of refreshments.

The dynamic hotel is an ideal choice for leisure travelers, prized for its central location and ‘urban oasis’ offerings including sixth floor terrace, indoor lap pool, jacuzzi, spa, and 24-hour Sheraton Fitness Centre.

“Conveniently located in the bustling city center, the hotel is an ideal starting point to discover all Montreal has to offer, in a refreshingly contemporary environment,” said Bertil Fabre, General Manager, Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel.

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts participates in Marriott Bonvoy, the award-winning travel program from Marriott International. Marriott Bonvoy members will earn points for their stays at the three properties, and at other hotels and resorts across Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary brands, including all-inclusive resorts and premium home rentals, as well as through everyday purchases with co-branded credit cards. Members can redeem their points for experiences including future stays, Marriott Bonvoy Moments, or through partners for luxurious products from Marriott Bonvoy Boutiques. With the Marriott Bonvoy app, members enjoy a level of personalization and a contactless experience that allows them to travel with peace of mind.

The three newly reimagined hotels add to the growing number of transformed properties in Canada including Sheraton Laval Hotel. In total, Sheraton has nearly 20 hotels in the country with six slated for transformation completion by end of 2023.

Marriott International Expects to Quadruple Its Portfolio in Vietnam with a Signed Pipeline of 30 Hotels

840 473 wttc2

The Westin Resort & Spa Cam Ranh - Haven Lounge
The Westin Resort & Spa Cam Ranh – Haven Lounge

With the recent reopening of Vietnam’s borders, Marriott International, Inc. today announced plans to expand its portfolio in Vietnam, expecting to add nearly 9,000 rooms within the company’s portfolio and see the debut of key brands including Ritz-Carlton Residences, Marriott Hotels, Westin, and Courtyard by Marriott.

“Vietnam experienced impressive pre-pandemic economic growth driven in part by coordinated development policies and the strong investment in infrastructure,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International. Our growth in Vietnam reflects the trust our local owners and franchisees continue to have in Marriott International, and we look forward to presenting them with opportunities to leverage our comprehensive portfolio of 30 brands, as well as our strong distribution network.”

Premium Brands Lead the Way
Marriott’s premium brands continue to resonate in Vietnam. As the most global brand within the portfolio, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, expects to make its debut in several new destinations across Vietnam, including on the Emerald Island of Phu Quoc, the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, the “City of Eternal Springs” Dalat and the shores of Binh Chau. A stylish new Renaissance Hotels is planned to open in the seafront city of Danang, while Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts plans to debut in Danang and Cam Ranh. The flagship Marriott Hotels brand is expected to debut in Hanoi, and Hoi An, while the Westin – the company’s leading wellness brand – is expected to open in Hanoi and Cam Ranh. Marriott Executive Apartments, the popular longer-stay brand, is also slated to start welcoming guests in Danang.

Select Service Brands Continue Rapid Growth
Marriott’s select service portfolio is driving strong momentum for growth in Vietnam, providing a range of offerings for both domestic and international travelers. Fairfield by Marriott is slated to be introduced in locations such as Vinh Yen, Ha Long and Hanoi, while several Courtyard by Marriott hotels are expected to open across Danang, Ha Long and Nha Trang.

A Burgeoning Branded Residences Market
Marriott continues to lead the branded residential segment with nearly 190 projects open or in development worldwide. Asia Pacific (excluding China) is one of the world’s fastest growing regions for branded residences, led in part by significant growth in Vietnam where Marriott International anticipates opening several Marriott branded residences over the next four years. In 2021, the company announced a milestone branded residential project that is expected to include close to 4,200 dual-branded residential and officetel units in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is expected to serve as the world’s largest hotel-branded residential project and is slated to open in phases in late 2024. The highly anticipated The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Hanoi also expects to make its debut in Vietnam in 2024.

“Vietnam is a vibrant destination and has over the years experienced record levels of tourism as international travelers flocked to the country and domestic travelers began to discover the many wonders available in their own backyard,” said Jakob Helgen, Area Vice President – Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International. “With the recent reopening of borders, we are hopeful for Vietnam to rebound rapidly, and we are excited to expand across even more parts of this captivating country.”

Marriott International currently operates ten properties in Vietnam, comprising 3,294 rooms and spanning six of the company’s brands. These hotels and resorts are located across six key business and leisure destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Binh Duong.
