Chef Zhang Presents Bold New Menu at Golden Flower Restaurant Macau - TRAVELINDEXMacao, Macao SAR, October 15, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / Up and Coming Young Chef Zhang Zhi Cheng presents a bold new menu featuring traditional and contemporary Sichuan, Shandong and Northern cuisines. Michelin two-starred Golden Flower at Wynn Macau is pleased to welcome Executive Chef Zhang Zhi Cheng – one of the hottest up and coming young chefs in the culinary world who is well-versed in the timeless flavors of classic and contemporary Sichuan, Shan- dong and Northern Chinese cuisines. Steeped in history and rich in cultural heritage, each of these extraordinary cuisines beautifully complements the refined and elegant ambience of Golden Flower.

With Chef Zhang at the helm, ingenuity is at the heart of every dish. Behind the love that he pours into the preparation of each dish is passion and persistence. A master at unleashing the potential of original ingredients to unearth a myriad of flavors, Chef Zhang has already earned a reputation for inventing dishes that deeply touch the soul. Before arriving at Golden Flower, he opened a private kitchen within the courtyard residence of an ancient hutong, where he introduced bold and innova- tive dishes. Soon after opening, the private kitchen quickly rose to become one of the hottest dining destinations in Beijing. Now at Golden Flower, Chef Zhang infuses his cooking philosophy and unique culinary concepts into masterful creations, presenting timeless classics for guests in Macau.

Bold interpretations of traditional and contemporary flavors

Pure, yet rich in flavor and multi-dimensional, each dish at Golden Flower resembles a masterfully crafted work of art. Highly experienced in both ancient and modern cooking techniques, Chef Zhang showcases the very best of traditional and contemporary Sichuan, Shandong and Northern Chinese dishes.

Introducing a degustation menu where regional delicacies take center stage, Chef Zhang precisely designed a dining experience to leave individuals with lasting memories. Like a story, it begins from the Prelude, moving on to Welcome Tea, Caviar, Beginning, Abundance, Soup, Heritage, Umami, Seasonal Vegetables, Bloom and ends with Finale. Through the culinary journey at Golden Flower, guests will discover Chef Zhang’s classic dishes, which include braised fish maw with superior chicken broth, sliced sea conch with Sichuan pepper oil, crisp codfish with balsamic vinegar, Si- chuan noodles with chili oil and more.

Tea artisans select China’s finest teas to pair with each dish

The art of tea has been intrinsically linked to Chinese gastronomy for thousands of years, and Si- chuan is the birthplace of the tea tree and the world’s tea culture. Golden Flower was first in Macau to provide personalized tea pairing services, and today, the restaurant’s experienced team of tea

artisans has thoughtfully selected more than 50 types of tea from all over China, together with vari- eties from Sichuan’s remote mountains to pair with its regional dishes and delicacies.

The artisans also developed one-of-a-kind teas to complement Golden Flower’s ambience and the four seasons. Drawing inspiration from the restaurant’s flower garden themed design, they have blended the “Golden Flower Signature Tea,” exuding fresh, floral aromas. In harmony with the sea- son’s climate, guests may also select from top-quality teas that are most beneficial for their health.

Upon entry into the dining area of Golden Flower, guests step immediately into an elegant and refined setting, themed around a flower garden. The restaurant’s interior mirrors the exquisite Chi- nese cuisine on offer, as well as harmony between man and nature. A reflection of China’s historic influence on the world, it also features a tea lounge and reception room inspired by the home of British tycoon, Frederick Leyland. Known as the “Peacock Room,” it is now on permanent display at Washington D.C.’s Freer Gallery of Art. For a more exclusive dining experience, the restaurant also features two private VIP rooms, each for a group of 10 who wishes to indulge in an extraordinary gastronomic journey together.

Raffles Hotels Bring Legendary Hospitality Experience to Romantic Udaipur - TRAVELINDEXUdaipur, Rajasthan, India, October 14, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / Raffles Udaipur, a flagship hotel in the Raffles Hotels & Resorts portfolio and the revered brand’s first location in India, offers a fresh perspective on the city of Udaipur and region of Rajasthan, from a 21-acre private island set in the middle of the serene Udai Sagar Lake.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the expansive property is reminiscent of a magnificent country estate, with beautifully manicured, ornamental gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding hills, tranquil lake and a 400-year-old temple. Arrival is via a scenic 20-minute drive from the airport, followed by a calming boat ride tailed by migratory birds, as a natural spectacle unfolds before the eyes of visiting guests. Sightings of some of the most exquisite birds, such as the greater flamingo, the ibises, great egret, painted stork and pied kingfisher, paint a mystical picture as the guests move slowly towards the island.

The influence of the island’s flora and fauna can be seen in the intricate details of the country estate, ‘greater flamingo’ being the most prominent one. The hotel is meticulously adorned with a variety of flora, ranging from the fragrant white frangipani and the night-blooming jasmine to stunning spider lilies and the peepal tree that holds great religious significance.

The hotel itself is an architectural marvel of 101 luxurious rooms, suites and signature suites that elegantly interweave western cultural references with Rajasthan’s royal heritage and elements of Mughal architecture. Guestrooms have uninterrupted lake views, private gardens, balconies, plunge pools and an east-west design aesthetic with murals, handcrafted furniture and other crafts by local artisans.

Under Culinary Director Prasad Metrani, Raffles Udaipur is a culinary aficionado’s paradise with fresh, new flavours to relish every day. For a sophisticated and discreet experience, guests can linger over intimate conversations or take a book to read at The Writers Bar, while indulging in bespoke artisanal and classic cocktails, as well as a champagne & caviar menu. For the elegant Afternoon High Tea experience, guests can anticipate exquisite savouries and desserts, along with specially curated teas from the Kangra hills in Himachal Pradesh and the best coffees from Southern India, introduced by the Tea Sommelier. In contrast, the iconic Long Bar, a hallmark of the Raffles brand designed with European wood and leather, with engravings by local artisans, is a perfect place to socialise. It offers fine Indian spirits, single malts, local brews from across Rajasthan and the signature Udaipur Sling – the Singapore classic remade with fresh produce from the island and home-made syrups.

The Raffles Spa, a space full of natural light with an embroidered canopy to encourage a sense of nurturing, offers a private escape, with authentic treatments and personalised programmes that prioritise both emotional and physical well-being. Catch the Ultimate Break and Discover Bali’s Hottest Surfing Spots

Bali, Indonesia, October 12, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / You know a surfing spot is hot when eleven-time world championship surfer Kelly Slater makes a trek mid-pandemic in search of the perfect wave. In December 2020 he did just that at Uluwatu on the southwestern tip of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula. The beaches around Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort boast some of the greatest waves in the world and the resort is offering the Ultimate Surf Break Package for surfer’s keen to get back riding Bali’s famous barrels.

The package for two people includes accommodation and breakfast, a private yoga session, a one-hour signature Anantara massage, a three-course dinner and a half day surfing session including transfers and insurance at one of the areas famous beaches. If unsure about which beach to choose, the resort has come up with six of the best:

Impossible Beach
Perched atop the dramatic cliff, Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort’s contemporary luxury reveals sensational ocean views of the world-renowned Impossible Beach right in front of the resort. This beach is one of the most famous surf points in Bali where surfers can descend through the resort’s beach elevator to the beautiful rocky beach. From there, it’s only 300 metres to paddle out from the aptly named beach to the break that is suitable for surfing pro’s all year round.

Padang Padang Beach
If the name Padang Padang Beach doesn’t sound familiar just think of ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, as the beach is based-on Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir and is the setting for the 2010 movie of the same name starring Julia Roberts. This beach is a stunning stretch of sand that is only accessible by a staircase through a hollow cave entrance. Padang Padang is a bucket listed notch on the belt for all experienced surfers looking for one of the best lefts in the world.

Bingin Beach
One of the island’s hidden gems for wave riding, Bingin Beach is a paradise for surfers. Swells of up to 2.5 metres break over the submerged reef giving strong left-handers to surfers. While getting to the beach is a difficult walk over rocks, it’s well worth the effort with the stunning beachscape and challenging barrels.

Nusa Dua Beach
Famous for Bali’s big wave surf break, the ocean reef at Nusa Dua stretches around the coastline for over two kilometres. It has the most consistent right-hand reef breaks on the island. Depending on the conditions and tides, the breaks tend to vary but on the right day surfers can enjoy the ultimate surfing experience.

Dreamland and Balangan Beaches
Dreamland and Balangan Beaches are only a kilometre apart and separated by a small headland. Both are a mix of soft white sand and rockpools. For pros, the best time to surf is between May and September when south-westerly winds create swells ranging from 1 metre to over 3 metres, which can roll on for a good 500 metres. Both beaches are also great for beginners and intermediate surfers.

Green Bowl Beach
Green Bowl is one of Bali’s untouched beaches often overlooked in favor of other more famous surfing spots. It’s a steep descent down hundreds of steps attracting surfers who favour uncrowded waves and punchy right-handers. Most surfers recommend early morning sessions as the wind picks up throughout the day.

Cardamom Tented Camp Earns Top 100 Green Destinations Award

Cambodia, October 7, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / Cardamom Tented Camp ecolodge in Cambodia has been announced by Green Destinations as one of the 2021 Top 100 Destination Sustainability Stories in the world. The announcement at the online annual conference of Green Destinations, a non-profit organisation for sustainable tourism, based in The Netherlands. The annual programme has been in existence since 2014.

Cardamom Tented Camp was chosen by the judges among 28 tourism experiences around the world in the Nature and Ecotourism category. The other 72 winners were in the categories of Localisation and Decarbonising the Local Supply Chain; Communities and Culture; Environment and Climate; and Tourism Reset and Recovery.

Green Destinations“Since Cardamom Tented Camp opened in 2017 we’ve helped protect 18,000 hectares of forest by channelling income from the camp to support 12 forest rangers who have done a terrific job of reducing illegal logging, wildlife hunting and sandbank dredging,” said Willem Niemeijer, CEO of YAANA Ventures, the camp operator.

“Right from day one our slogan has been, ‘Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing’. The Green Destination judges saw those details of our work. They recognised that our sustainability story as a world-class and inspirational conservation tourism project could be emulated in other places,” he said.

In an earlier Q&A session for the online conference on 5 October, Niemeijer told Green Destination online conference attendees that Cardamom Tented Camp was based on three principles: a belief in visitor dispersion to off-the-beaten-track places away from over-touristed hubs; a commitment to work with experts, such as NGO Wildlife Alliance; and a full-hearted belief in the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit, which had to be unwavering if the project was going to be truly sustainable, said Niemeijer.

In an official statement announcing the Top 100, Green Destinations said: “With the tourism sector facing very challenging times in the past year or so, the resilience and hard work of these destinations to become more responsible should be celebrated. The 2021 selection was determined by the quality, transferability, and, more than ever, by the level of innovation of the stories.”

Albert Salman, the President of Green Destinations told the audience that the objective of the top 100 sustainability stories programme was to “inspire responsible tourism leadership around the world”.

About Cardamom Tented Camp
Cardamom Tented Camp is an ecolodge located in the foothills of the Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia. Offering nine well-appointed safari-style tents, the lodge aims to minimize the human footprint on the natural world and serve as a role model in promoting sustainable ecotourism practices within both the national park and Cambodia as a whole. Located on an 18,000-hectare (180 km2) concession, the lodge and its surroundings are home to pristine lowland and coastal habitats linking wildlife corridors to the Cardamom Mountains. Eco-friendly trekking and kayaking packages are available for adventure enthusiasts who are keen to be a part of real conservation work.

Cardamom Tented Camp is a three-way initiative between Minor Group, YAANA Ventures and Wildlife Alliance to ensure the land and its biodiversity does not fall into the hands of loggers, poachers and sand dredging operations.

About Cardamom Tented Camp operator YAANA Ventures
YAANA Ventures is an owner, partner and operator of entrepreneurial travel and hospitality ventures in Asia. YAANA Ventures distinguishes itself by sharing real experiences that are grounded in the cultural richness of Asia. The company is the champion of the triple bottom-line. S Hotels & Resorts joins a growing number of cutting-edge companies that now accept cryptocurrencies as a payment option, including Microsoft, Rakuten, AT&T, Twitch and Virgin Galactic.

We wanted to create a destination that allows guests to experience Saudi Arabia’s untouched beauty. Desert Rock will provide guests with uninterrupted spectacular views while preserving the natural landscape for future generations to enjoy, said John Pagano, CEO of TRSDC.

“He added: “We have drawn inspiration from the surrounding environment, while providing unparalleled luxury, allowing guests to connect with nature and create memorable experiences.”

Integrating architecture with nature

Guests will enter the resort through a hidden valley nestled between the mountains. From there, they will find 48 villas and 12 hotel rooms within the mountain, a total of 60 keys, located amongst the vista, with architecture fully integrated into the rock to preserve its striking silhouette, a tribute to Oppenheim Architecture’s philosophy to build with the land, not on the land.

A range of accommodation will be available, from ground level dwellings to crevice hotel suites midway up the mountain, and a select number of excavated rooms within the rock massif itself.

To provide undisrupted views across the landscape, most roads leading into the resort will be pushed to the edge of the main wadi and hidden behind landscape mounds. This will also minimize sound and light pollution, allowing guests to fully absorb the dramatic desert landscape.

Unique resort experience

The resort will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a world-class spa and fitness center, remote destination dining areas as well as a feature lagoon oasis. Guests will be able to hike, use dune buggies, and star gaze as part of the site-wide activities program.

The project also aims to maintain the ancient history of the site by hiring members of the local community to act as stewards of the land and provide educational tours for visitors about the local history of the area.

Sustainably constructed

As part of TRSDC’s commitment to regenerative tourism, Desert Rock will be designed to achieve the highest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification level.

The architecture has been designed to reduce energy consumption and regenerate native flora. Water retention and distribution systems will be used throughout the site, with harvested rainwater used to create a more green, flourishing Wadi.

Alongside this, materials excavated from the site will be used to create the infrastructure. Stone will be used for interior and exterior walls and floors, while ground stone and existing sand will be used for concrete aggregate, which is the main building material for all the architecture.

Chad Oppenheim, Founder of Oppenheim Architecture, said: “Desert Rock is one of the most dramatic desert landscapes in the world, which is why we wanted to use the architecture as a way to honor and respect it. By utilizing natural materials and integrating the resort into the rock, guests can connect physically with the destination and experience Saudi Arabia’s stunning, natural beauty.”

Breaking new ground

Site preparation works have commenced, and construction began in July 2021. The Red Sea Project has already passed significant milestones on the destination and work is on track to welcome the first guests by the end of 2022, when the first hotels will open. Phase One, which includes 16 hotels in total, will complete by 2023.

Upon completion in 2030, the destination will comprise 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also include luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, leisure facilities and an international airport.

About The Red Sea Development Company
The Red Sea Development Company is a closed joint-stock company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. TRSDC was established to drive the development of The Red Sea Project, a luxury tourism destination that will set new standards in sustainable development and position Saudi Arabia on the global tourism map.

The project will be developed over 28,000 km2 of pristine lands and waters along Saudi Arabia’s west coast and includes a vast archipelago of more than 90 islands. The destination also features mountain canyons, dormant volcanoes, and ancient cultural and heritage sites. The destination will include hotels, residential properties, leisure, commercial and entertainment amenities, as well as supporting infrastructure that emphasizes renewable energy and water conservation and re-use.

Activity for the first phase of development, which focuses on enabling the infrastructure to support future work, is well underway. A marine infrastructure contract awarded in July 2019 includes the construction of a 3.3 km crossing to Shurayrah (the main hub) and development has begun at the Coastal Village, which will be home to around 14,000 people who will work at the destination.
