Accor Announces Global Launch of All-Inclusive Collection - TRAVELINDEX - HOTELWORLDS.comAntalya, Turkey, May 10, 2022 / TRAVELINDEX / Accelerating its expansion in the fast-growing market with a unique platform of multi-branded luxury and premium offers. Focusing on experiences through high-quality entertainment and wellness program. Unrivalled and diverse F&B concepts.

Accor, a global hospitality leader, today announced that it is accelerating its expansion in the all-inclusive market with the launch of its multi-branded All-Inclusive Collection – an attractive offering that will see the Group double down on this fast-growing segment by building upon the success of the Rixos brand. The platform will incorporate the key strengths of Accor’s brands and leverage the Group’s leading market position in the luxury and premium segments. Building on Rixos’ invaluable 20+ years of experience in the luxury-all-inclusive market. The offering will look to provide exciting and memorable experiences globally.

Accor entered into a joint venture with Fettah Tamince, founder of Rixos Hotels, in 2016 to develop the All-Inclusive segment. The partnership has proved to be great success with Rixos successfully tripling its network (including committed pipeline) over the last 5 years. Rixos is a leading global player in the luxury all-inclusive segment and the dominant market leader in Turkey, the Middle East and Central Asia with 24 hotels and over 10,000 rooms in operation and a further 26 hotels with over 14,000 rooms in the pipeline.

Building upon the success of Rixos, Accor is significantly expanding its all-inclusive offering by including its luxury and premium brands with Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Swissôtel and Mövenpick in the Collection. The objective is to leverage the strength and visibility of these brands in the key target markets for expansion for the All-Inclusive Collection.

Fettah Tamince, Chairman of the Board of Rixos Hotels said: I am incredibly proud of the success Rixos has achieved in the five years as part of the Accor portfolio. Together, Accor and Rixos complement each other’s market-leading expertise, and the All-Inclusive Collection is the next step in accelerating their positions in the sector. This new initiative comes at a time when the demand for all-inclusive stays could not be stronger and now is the right time to leverage this positive trajectory. I am excited and pleased to continue my partnership with Accor with this expanded brand portfolio.

Carefully curated entertainment programmes, for both day and evening activities, will play a central role and will build on Rixos’ expertise in children’s clubs, fitness, watersports as well as in programming for outdoor activities and MICE. Guests can look forward to spectacular shows with breathtaking performances delivered by entertainers and multiple sporting activities per resort accompanied by world-class spa and wellness facilities.

This will be complemented by the exceptional quality and wide breadth of restaurant, bar, beach club and nightlife concepts, creating unforgettable guest experiences. The Collection’s programming in this space will be inspired and led by Carte Blanched, Ennismore’s F&B Concept Lab with each venue providing diverse and culturally relevant cuisines and culinary experiences. Ennismore is the leading lifestyle platform established by Accor in a joint venture with Sharan Pasricha.

International expansion of the all-inclusive business will be centered in Europe, Middle East Africa, Turkey, Asia and Central America and the Caribbean. These geographies have been selected for their promising growth potential in the all-inclusive segment and the strength of these brands in the target markets. The Collection will initially focus on the further expansion of Rixos’ footprint of 50 properties in the network and pipeline and will quickly scale and diversify as part of a longer term multi-branded strategy of having over 100 all-inclusive resorts in the next 5 years.

The Collection is set for a strong year of openings which will include: Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha, Rixos Qetaifan Doha, which includes one of the world’s largest waterparks. Both these resorts will open in time for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Also opening later this year the Swissôtel Sharm el Sheikh, the first non-Rixos branded property in the All-Inclusive Collection with 1,350 rooms, a water park, multiple dining, beach club and entertainment facilities.

Gaurav Bhushan, CEO Accor Lifestyle & Entertainment, Co-CEO Ennismore said: the post-Covid travel market is witnessing a renewed desire for leisure stays. Accor’s strategic decision to double down on the all-inclusive segment, the fastest growing sector in this market and build upon its success with Rixos, capitalizes on this opportunity. The new luxury and premium All-Inclusive Collection, reinforces our business model while increasing our exposure and value proposition for hotel owners.

World’s First Fully Sustainable and Solar-Powered Yacht & Residence Club

500 278 wttc2

World's First Fully Sustainable and Solar-Powered Yacht & Residence Club - TRAVELINDEX - SUSTAINABLEFIRSTElizabeth Island, Bahamas, May 7, 2022 / TRAVELINDEX / Ushering in a new era for Caribbean vacation home communities, Silent Resorts and EcoIsland Development announce Club Ki’ama Bahamas, the world’s first equity club to offer ultra-sustainable solar residences and carbon neutral solar yachts. Club Ki’ama is located within the new Ki’ama Bahamas enclave on Elizabeth Island, minutes from Great Exuma. It represents a one-of-a-kind co-ownership opportunity that combines luxurious solar-powered, oceanfront homes with a fleet of solar-powered and crewed yachts, as well as electric day boats, a beach club, spa and restaurant. Construction begins in May 2022 and, upon completion, Club Ki’ama will have the lowest environmental impact of any development in the Caribbean.

“Club Ki’ama represents the future for sustainable residential and resort development,” says Steve Dering, EcoIsland Development partner and global pioneer of the residence club co-ownership model. “It’s incumbent on us to protect Elizabeth Island’s ecologically sensitive environment while thoughtfully creating comfortable spaces where our owners and their guests can enjoy the best of the Bahamas. Our equity club provides abundant owner use while consuming less land with fewer homes and adds an incredible yacht experience. We’re hopeful that our first-of-its-kind club and community will set the standard for eco-conscious development around the world.”

The Ki’ama Bahamas community, Club residences, and facilities were designed by Silent Resorts CEO and founder Victor Barrett. The single-story Club residences will be constructed using linear designs that complement the natural topography of the island. They feature 10- to 12-foot ceilings for enhanced ventilation and light, “living roof” landscape systems, solar panels, and structural timber frames designed to withstand a Category 4 hurricane. The pre-engineered building system allows for the bulk of construction to take place off-island, minimizing disruption to the natural landscape and reducing construction delays and costs.

“We are thrilled to announce our first community for Silent Resorts,” said Barrett. “Sustainable development has long been a passion of mine and Club Ki’ama will bring this to life with state-of-the-art solar technology and sustainable building practices unlike any in the resort and residential markets. We’re excited for our Club owners and their guests to experience a smart, responsible way to own and a new way to travel.”

Club Ki’ama will feature 16 four-bedroom residences and eight yachts. The introductory ownership price is $525,000. Owners will enjoy a minimum of five weeks of vacation annually, including 10 yacht days, and have additional use subject to reservation policies and availability. Club Ki’ama ownership also grants immediate access to the prestigious Elite Alliance exchange program with more than 120 coveted international destinations.

Combining one-of-a-kind land and sea adventures, Club Ki’ama will make a fleet of eight crewed, fully catered, solar-powered Silent Yachts available to owners. These remarkable 60- to 80-foot luxury catamarans eliminate the major drawbacks of traditional yachts – the environmental impact and noise of fossil fuel engines, high operating costs, and expensive maintenance – without diminishing the pleasures that make yachting one of the ultimate vacation experiences.

The Ki’ama Bahamas community will serve as a worldwide example for sustainable development. Much of the resort will be constructed on piers to avoid land excavation or fill using “carbon negative” pre-engineered building structures with near-zero construction waste. All residences, yachts, buildings and amenities will be fully and independently solar powered. The resort also utilizes highly efficient, advanced water purification and wastewater treatment systems. In addition to its environmentally friendly energy, water and building systems, only 18 percent of the total land area will be developed, leaving most of the Ki’ama property undisturbed and left in its natural habitat.

The eco-conscious island sanctuary will feature the oceanfront Club Ki’ama Beach Club, Spa & Restaurant. As the centerpiece of the community, the Beach Club will be uniquely constructed in “tent & timber,” utilizing the highest quality natural fabrics, bamboo and timber with very little impact to the environment.

The removed-but-not-remote location of Club Ki’ama is 36 acres on Elizabeth Island, a private island in Elizabeth Harbour, with a two-acre protected marina and six private beaches. Upon flying into Exuma International Airport, owners take an electric water taxi from George Town Dock to the island, a 10-minute ride. Within 130 nautical miles of the island are more than 365 cays and other islands to be explored on the Club yachts and electric day boats. Ki’ama Bahamas also offers eight spectacularly sited five- and six-bedroom estate homes.

Orient Express to Open Luxury Hotel in Venice at Palazzo Donà Giovannelli

500 302 wttc2

Orient Express to Open Luxury Hotel in Venice at Palazzo Donà Giovannelli - - TRAVELINDEXVenice, Italy, May 4, 2022 / TRAVELINDEX / Legendary travel brand Orient Express, part of the world-leading Accor group, has signed a partnership agreement with Italian hospitality group Arsenale S.p.A to open the second Orient Express hotel in Italy at the spectacular Palazzo Dona Giovannelli in Venice. The Groups have selected architect and interior designer Aline Asmar d’Amman and her studio Culture in Architecture to design and decorate the space.

Venice, once the gateway to Constantinople and a mythical stop on the legendary Orient Express train – that opened its doors in 1919 with the completion of the Simplon tunnel linking Switzerland to Italy – will be the home of the second Orient Express hotel, set to open in early 2024.

Located just ten minutes from Venice’s Santa Lucia train station, next to the Cannaregio shopping district, and rooted in the origins of the City of the Doges, the Palazzo Donà Giovannelli is a treasured palace built in 1400 by architect Filippo Calendario, known for Venice’s famed Doge’s Palace. Former home of the Duke of Urbino, a patron of the arts, it has been renovated twice, notably in 1800 by architect Gian Battista Meduna. At one time a pinacotheque which housed the painting La Tempesta by Giorgione, it was successively owned by the Donà and Giovannelli families.

An ode to the heritage of Venice, inspired by all of the cultures and eras that are forever a part of its history, the Orient Express Venice Hotel will be home to 45 rooms and suites, all overlooking the gardens and canals of Venice. The hotel bar will be located in the former piano nobile ballroom on the main floor of the building. A world-class restaurant will introduce guests to the flavours of Italian gastronomy. Select terraces hidden on the hotel’s rooftops will offer the most beautiful views of the wonders of the Serenissima.

As soon as the hotel opens, passengers on the Orient Express La Dolce Vita train will be able to disembark directly at the Venice Santa Lucia Station and reach the Orient Express Venice Hotel by foot or by boat.

“Orient Express Venice embodies a unique encounter between two icons: the legendary luxury brand and the Palazzo Donà Giovannelli. An architectural feat at the crossroads of cultures, a link between the East and the West, the landmark building is anchored in eternity and ready to come back to life with a theatrical and contemporary art of living, steeped in infinite elegance” says Aline Asmar d’Amman.

Born in Lebanon, Aline Asmar d’Amman, via her studio Culture in Architecture, creates projects where past and future are connected, where culture symbolizes a bridge between continents. Convinced that beauty adds to, in her words, “the poetic soul of the world”, she has designed the interior architecture of numerous private residences and has taken on the art direction of luxury hotels such as the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and emblematic restaurants such as Le Jules Verne at the Eiffel Tower. She has also collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld on the making of prestigious decorations and a collection of objects and furniture in marble. Last April, she unveiled the architectural scenography of the Lebanese Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Art.

Orbital Assembly Plans to Open Space Hotel in 2027

814 506 wttc2

Orbital Assembly Plans to Open Space Hotel in 2027 - - TRAVELINDEXFontana, California, United States, May 3, 2022 / TRAVELINDEX / Orbital Assembly Corporation is a leader in the race to make space available to everyone by building the Voyager-class of Space Stations, a gravity simulating on-orbit habitation environments for leisure, commercial and industrial activities.

Orbital Assembly is aiming to launch not one but two space stations with tourist accommodation: Voyager Station, the renamed original design, is now scheduled to accommodate 400 people and to open in 2027, while new concept Pioneer Station, housing 28 people, could be operational in just three years.

After blasting off from Earth, guests will arrive at a central, zero-gravity docking hub. From there, elevator shafts will carry them outward to a chain of “habitation modules” arranged around the circumference of the circular station. It’s only there, at the edge of the wheel, that the centrifugal force will be strong enough to keep guests and their surroundings firmly grounded.

Humanity’s 70 years of advancing space development has been hindered because astronauts on orbit begin feeling the detrimental effects of microgravity within 48 hours. Until now, long term sustained habitation on orbit has not been possible. Orbital Assembly provides for the critical need of artificial gravity by providing critical infrastructure solutions enabling construction, maintenance, research, commerce, and other operations on-orbit for long periods of time without the detrimental health effects of microgravity.

Orbital Assembly flagship project is the Voyager-class Space Station. The large rotating stations are designed to produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation. Artificial, or simulated, gravity is essential to long term habitation in space. The station has been designed accommodate commercial and manufacturing partners as well as national space agencies conducting low gravity research.

The Voyager Class will also provide the comfort of low gravity within the luxurious accommodations of a luxury hotel space for tourists who want to experience an extended visit to space.

The concept of the rotating wheel, proposed in the early 1900s as a way to generate artificial gravity, was later popularized in the 1950s by the German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun (Voyager was originally named in his honor). Thanks to the centrifugal force it produces, visitors will be able to move about normally, more or less.

The billionaires Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson have paid to cross or arrive at the edge of the Kármán line, the boundary between our atmosphere and outer space. Beside a budding clientele of Bezos and Branson stature, the era of full-fledged pleasure trips to space seems at hand, even for a multi-day escape.

About Orbital Assembly Corporation
Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is the only company advancing the development and operation of the first commercially viable space-based business park with gravity that will enable humanity to work, play and thrive in the space ecosystem. Commercialization of these space parks will include manufacturing of integrated circuits, photonics, fiber optics, satellite rework, military applications, biomaterials, organ growth and pharmaceuticals. The company will also provide communications hubs and opportunities for space tourism.

Michel Reybier Hospitality Buys Boutique Hotel L’Oscar London - - TRAVELINDEXLondon, United Kingdom, April 30,2022 / TRAVELINDEX / The hotel group Michel Reybier Hospitality is taking over the exclusive boutique hotel L’Oscar London. The 39-room hotel, which was recently completely redesigned by the renowned architect Jacques Garcia, is Michel Reybier Hospitality’s first hotel outside France and Switzerland.

With L’Oscar London, Michel Reybier Hospitality is expanding its portfolio with another unique hotel in an attractive destination. Part of this property was once a Baptist Church and was built in 1856 in the Victorian style. Between 1901 and 1903 the building was extended to become the headquarters of the Baptist Church in England. The building is located on Southampton Row, nestled between Covent Garden and Bloomsbury, not far from the British Museum. The name L’oscar pays tribute to the world-famous writer Oscar Wilde. It ties into the literary and history of the area, as it was home to a group of associated writers, philosophers and artists including Virginia Woolf, E.M Forster and Lytton Strachey, known as the ‘Bloomsbury Set’.

Listed Grade II* and considered as a particularly important building of more than special interest in the United Kingdom, the hotel is not only the first of the group in London, but it was also the first time that the renowned architect Jacques Garcia created the interior design of a hotel in London. True to his style, the Frenchman lent the rooms opulence and, above all, atmosphere with a keen sense of history and attention to detail.

The boutique hotel, which opened in 2018, has 39 spacious rooms. From the Superior Room to the L’oscar Suite, each Garcia-designed room has its own unique charm, many with fireplaces and, of course, the latest technology.

The Baptist Bar is set in the former chapel, featuring an octagonal dome. One of the eye-catchers at L’oscar Restaurant is the illuminated onyx bar. The house, which is filled with many arts and craft treasures, also has a beautiful oak-lined library and The Committee Room, which is adorned with an original fireplace engraved with a scene from John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, is perfect for smaller events.
