Park Hyatt Marrakech Officially Opens its Doors

946 565 wttc2

Park Hyatt Marrakech Officially Opens its Doors - TOP25HOTELS.comMarking the entry of the iconic Park Hyatt brand into Morocco, the new hotel offers discerning guests a distinct experience, combining contemporary and refined luxury with Marrakech’s authenticity and charm. Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced the opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech, marking the debut of the Park Hyatt brand in Morocco and growing the brand’s presence in Africa, joining Park Hyatt Zanzibar and the forthcoming Park Hyatt Johannesburg, slated for 2025.

Uniquely located about 9 miles (15 kilometers) from Marrakech’s historic Medina district, the 19-acre (7.5-hectare) resort is situated in an exquisite, off-the-beaten path location at the base of the Atlas Mountains. Surrounded by palm trees, olive trees and jacaranda trees, Park Hyatt Marrakech sits adjacent to the magnificent Al Maaden Golf resort, exclusively offering guests convenient access to the 18-hole course.

Park Hyatt Marrakech stands apart from other luxury hotels in the market through a distinctly residential, modern, and stylish take on Arab-Berber heritage. Inviting worldly travelers to experience the splendor of Marrakech and Morocco at large, the hotel encourages sensory enrichment via thoughtfully chosen touchpoints including authentic design and focus on the surrounding environment as juxtaposed to contemporary art, global fine dining and the latest in individually tailored wellness.

Composed of 16 pavilions arranged around a central, zeolite patio, Park Hyatt Marrakech encapsulates the personalized, understated luxury of the global brand with unexpected, hyperlocal experiences for guests – from breakfast in a hot-air balloon in the Three Atlas Valleys, to dinner in a Bedouin tent in the Agafay desert, to airport transfers in luxury electric cars, and more.

“As a key market in our regional growth strategy, we are delighted to announce the opening of Morocco’s first Park Hyatt hotel in Marrakech. The property has been a highly anticipated addition to our portfolio as Morocco receives a resurgence of interest as a top tier cultural destination among travel connoisseurs,” said Javier Águila, group president EAME, Hyatt. “Offering a wealth of new experiences across the arts, culture, and gastronomy, alongside the area’s historic and ancient treasures, Park Hyatt Marrakech provides guests an enviable opportunity to discover the beauty of the Red City through this modern sanctuary of timeless luxury. Park Hyatt Marrakech marks the eleventh Park Hyatt property in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, following the brand’s successful expansion across key leisure destinations such as Doha, Vienna, Istanbul, Dubai, Zurich, Milan, and Paris.”

Contemporary Design Inspired by Moroccan Aesthetics

Renowned Marrakech-based architect Imaad Rahmouni drew inspiration from Arab-Berber traditions to create a luxurious contemporary design for Park Hyatt Marrakech. Skillfully balancing the modern conveniences of home and while upholding the destination’s rich traditions in craftsmanship and materiality, the design intentionally accentuates the surrounding panoramas as an extension of its interiors. From the lobby’s grand window to the spa treatment and relaxation rooms to the main pool sunbeds, breathtaking and picturesque views of the majestic Atlas Mountains and Mount Toubkal are on view.

The 130 residentially inspired guestrooms and suites are among the most spacious in Marrakech, and promise privacy and tranquility, with Moroccan touches throughout. Each guestroom features traditionally woven Berber carpets in pure wool and headboards representing the Tataoui motif (a local roofing technique made of laurel branches) alongside modern works of art sourced via Ifitry Artists’ Residence.

Through an exclusive collaboration, Ifitry has curated more than 700 paintings and decorative objects especially for Park Hyatt Marrakech, featuring artists from Morocco, Senegal, Benin, Spain, France, Italy and Japan. In the lobby, a masterful suspension – comprising almost 600 hand-crafted ceramic pieces by visual artist Mounat Charrat – adorns the ceiling, depicting a constellation of meteorites, while two abstract paintings by Italian artist Gianni Lucchessi offer a contrast to the surrounding, raw-earth wall panels.

Drinking and Dining

Park Hyatt Marrakech offers a variety of authentic and globally inspired dining options on property, as reflective of the brand’s elevated food and wine expertise. This includes TFAYA, an arabesque brasserie where acclaimed Moroccan chef Issam Rhachi presents signature dishes with an avant-garde approach, like Lobster Mechoui in a marinade of black garlic, preserved lemon, saffron, cumin and smoked paprika. Le Pavillon offers a light, all-day menu to be enjoyed under the shady pergolas on the terrace or on a pool-side sun bed. Guests can also unwind surrounded by beautiful fireplaces and bookshelves in The Living Room, a signature social space in Park Hyatt hotels, to enjoy a Moroccan mint tea or Fennel Old Fashioned paired with Beef Tangia Gyoza from the tapas menu.

Wellbeing

A haven of calm, in addition to convenient golf access, the hotel’s vast, 23,000+-square-foot (2,200-square-meter) spa is a temple of tranquility and an ode to Morocco’s culture of hammam rituals and holistic therapies. Featuring products from Sodashi, a brand hand-crafted in Australia from the purest natural ingredients and Nectarome, a complete range of high-quality natural products derived from Moroccan traditions, the professional spa team can recommend personalized treatments tailored according to each individual – from a Hammam Escape for exfoliation to a Muscle and Sports Massage for recovery. In addition to a hair salon, guests can stay on track of their fitness goals in the 2,153-square-foot (200-square-meter) fitness center and yoga studio. The expansive resort also includes an outdoor heated pool (154 feet/47 meters); a family-friendly outdoor pool (148 feet/45 meters); and an indoor heated pool (66 feet/20 meters) beneath a vaulted ceiling, each offering unique valley and mountain vistas.

Event and Function Spaces

Park Hyatt Marrakech features seven spacious function rooms, designed with a residential feel and desert-inspired aesthetic. The function spaces can accommodate up to 80 guests, whether for elegant wedding receptions, intimate cocktail gatherings, or formal corporate meetings. The function rooms echo the neutral and understated color schemes visible throughout the resort, with a soft and warm palette creating an oasis of comfort. Each pavilion, known as Douars, boasts a rooftop terrace with a panoramic 360° view, ensuring an unforgettable experience for private events.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our discerning Park Hyatt guests to Marrakech,” said Pascal Leprou General Manager of Park Hyatt Marrakech. “True to the brand promise, we have created a refined home-away-from home that unlocks unparalleled enrichment for guests, while upholding and honoring Moroccan traditions. The result is an intimate sanctuary of exceptional and magical surroundings for the curious and adventurous traveler.”

Hyatt Strengthens Luxury Portfolio with 35 New Hotels and Resorts Through 2025

600 300 wttc2

Hyatt Strengthens Luxury Portfolio with 35+ Planned Hotels and Resorts to Open Through 2025 in Highly Sought-After Destinations Across the Globe.

Driven by care for today’s luxury traveler and their wellbeing priorities, Hyatt elevates its leadership position with an intentional growth strategy across its luxury Timeless, Boundless, Independent, and Inclusive Collection brands

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) shared today Hyatt’s strong development pipeline of more than 35 planned luxury hotels and resorts globally through 2025 across the Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Miraval, Alila, Andaz, Thompson Hotels, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brands, as well as Inclusive Collection brands Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts and Dreams Resorts & Spas.

While maintaining its asset-light approach, Hyatt has doubled the number of luxury rooms, tripled the number of resort rooms, and quadrupled the number of lifestyle rooms in only five years. With 70% of its rooms categorized as luxury and upper upscale, the Hyatt portfolio has grown to meet increased demands for luxury and resort accommodations while upholding consistent, top-tier quality, personalized experiences, and bespoke service.

At large, travel and tourism are expected to increase by approximately 12% of global GDP by 2033 according to a recent World Travel & Tourism Council report. In turn, Hyatt’s luxury portfolio is expanding to meet that demand in new international markets. This includes the debut of Park Hyatt hotels in the UK, Mexico, and Malaysia; the Thompson Hotel brand’s expansion in Europe with the first properties in Austria and Italy; the Andaz brand’s growth in the Americas with its first hotel in the Caribbean; The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand’s first properties in the Nordics and India; as well as Hyatt luxury growth in the trending destination of Portugal, with the planned openings of Andaz Lisbon and Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina.

“The upcoming addition of these new hotels and resorts across our global luxury portfolio in sought-after destinations where travelers want to go most reinforces our leadership in this space,” said Mark Vondrasek, Chief Commercial Officer, Hyatt. “Our continued, purposeful growth in the year ahead will follow an insight-led approach, focused on listening to our guests, customers and World of Hyatt members and their evolving travel needs such as a growing desire for immersive and distinct experiences that prioritize wellbeing.”

A recent Ipsos report found that across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, common factors driving the travel decision-making process are availability of wellbeing offerings (approximately 30% on average) and the opportunity for new experiences (approximately 31% on average). Additionally, through listening to what matters most to guests and members, Hyatt understands that affluent, worldly travelers are seeking luxury hotels that value the purpose of their stay and proactively plan around their needs. In turn, Hyatt luxury hotels take special care in developing one-of-a-kind experiences and excursions curated personally for each guest, including the awe-inspiring, experiential wellbeing programming that they value the most. Notable holistic wellbeing offerings include:

  • A continued commitment to sleep – from a new program across all Hyatt hotels in New Zealand and Australia to a new, comprehensive Sleep Therapy program, teaching guests the art of slumber, at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets.
  • New adventurous experiences focused on showcasing the potential for transformative travel through the Andaz “Be Like No One’s Watching” campaign, coming to life through culinary and mixology masterclasses, musical immersions, onsite tattoo studios and more.
  • Preference for privatization (as a form of “self-care”) is driving villa stays at hotels like Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, Alila Villas Uluwatu, The Cape, A Thompson Hotel, and Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, which participate in Hyatt’s award-winning exclusive travel advisor program, Hyatt Privé.
  • Specialized and immersive spas coming in 2024 at Park Hyatt Los Cabos at Cabo del Sol and Park Hyatt Marrakech that will act as wellness destinations, driving preference amongst Gen Z and Millennials travelers of which more than half would go out of their way to ensure a hotel has a spa, accordingly to Amex 2023 Global Travel Trends report.
  • More options through the recently launched Wellbeing Collective, a collection of 30+ Hyatt properties around the globe that offer tailored wellbeing experiences to meet the specific needs of meetings and events travelers, with plans to expand in 2024.

World of Hyatt recently unveiled reimagined program benefits for members, including newly expanded World of Hyatt Milestone Rewards designed to offer more awards and more choice at more milestones, allowing members to choose earning points for future free nights, enhancing stays with suite upgrades As part of this evolution, eligible travel advisors will be offered new pathways to earn status and milestones and are invited to extend care even further with the ability to gift new and exciting Milestone Rewards as well as Globalist status to clients or colleagues.

Hyatt also continues to grow thoughtfully through acquisitions, expanding its portfolio for guests and members with the recently announced acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith. The integration planned for the near future will unlock direct booking access to hundreds more boutique and luxury hotels including in 20+ countries where there are currently no Hyatt hotels.

“Hyatt’s luxury growth strategy is purposefully ambitious and in the coming years, we will continue to grow with intent through a focus on key leisure destinations, and top-tier brands’ ability to personalize experiences for each guest, member and client, through care,” added Heidi Kunkel, Senior Vice President Commercial Services, EAME. “We value our relationship with travel advisors and look to work together on finding new ways to advance care for them and their clients through the transformative growth of our luxury offerings and evolving World of Hyatt benefits.”

Hyatt Unveils Plans for First Locations for Extended-Stay Brand, Hyatt Studios

995 571 wttc2

Hyatt Unveils Plans for First Locations for Extended-Stay Brand, Hyatt Studios - TRAVELINDEXHyatt Unveils Plans for First Locations and Leadership Appointments for Upper-Midscale, Extended-Stay Brand, Hyatt Studios. Hyatt leverages a developer-driven approach to accelerate speed-to-market for its recently announced brand

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced significant updates to Hyatt Studios, the latest select service brand in the Hyatt portfolio, including executed franchise agreements for the first locations in Mobile, Alabama and Marysville, California, emphasizing Hyatt’s strategy of entering untapped markets where its brand presence is yet to be established. Hyatt Studios, Hyatt’s first upper-midscale extended-stay brand in the Americas, is expected to be a key accelerator for Hyatt, building on six years of industry leading net rooms growth.

“Hyatt’s entry into these new markets with Hyatt Studios hotels exemplifies our commitment to developers, guests and World of Hyatt members,” said Dan Hansen, global head of Hyatt Studios. “We’ve learned that when Hyatt guests stay with a competing brand, they appear to do so for one of two reasons: the absence of a Hyatt hotel within five miles or the choice to stay at a lower chain scale. By enabling guests to choose a Hyatt hotel in new markets, we grow brand loyalty without intra-brand competition and present more white-space options to developers.”

Hyatt unveils first two Hyatt Studios locations
Following Hyatt’s announcement of signed letters of interest for more than 100 Hyatt Studios hotels at the brand’s launch in April, Hyatt now confirms the first Hyatt Studios locations:

Mobile, Alabama (Tillman’s Corner)
3H Group, Inc, founded by Hiren Desai, an expert in the select service space, has entered into a franchise agreement with Hyatt to build the inaugural Hyatt Studios hotel in Tillman’s Corner, just outside of Mobile, Alabama. The site will mark Hyatt’s first branded hotel in the area and is strategically located near Mobile Bay’s Gulf Coast, providing extended-stay guests exceptional value and easy access to this rapidly expanding port city. In addition to attracting tourism, the city boasts a diverse range of industries in manufacturing, aerospace, and commercial retail, further enhancing its midscale appeal. This property is set to open in late 2024.

“We are honored to be a part of this significant milestone with Hyatt,” said Hiren Desai, president and CEO, 3H Group, Inc. “Hyatt’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class service to owners, operators and guests alike makes them the ideal hospitality company to expand our extended-stay presence in this growing community.”

Marysville, California
Presidio Hotel Development LLC has entered into a franchise agreement with Hyatt for a 113-room Hyatt Studios hotel in downtown Marysville, California, located in Yuba County and part of the North Sacramento area. Marysville is an ideal location to develop a Hyatt Studios hotel due to the city’s rapid growth in recent years, which has led to increased demand in the midscale segment. Expected to open in 2025, the property will feature a custom buildout, including dedicated meeting spaces, to effectively serve the needs of both business travelers and those attending local events in the area.

“The experience of working with Hyatt is unparalleled. They authentically embrace their ethos of listening to understand and have created an innovative extended-stay offering, shaped by input from the development community,” said Guneet Bajwa, president and CEO of Presidio Hotel Development LLC. “That, coupled with the adaptability to tailor the product to my market’s demands, are among the reasons we’ve chosen to invest in developing a Hyatt Studios hotel.”

Hyatt expands Hyatt Studios leadership team
Under the leadership of Dan Hansen, a carefully selected and dedicated team has been formed to ensure the brand delivers on its value proposition. Hyatt veteran Jason Ballard has been promoted to the position of Head of Operations, Hyatt Studios, reporting directly to Hansen.

Most recently serving as Hyatt’s Vice President of Franchise Operations, Select Service, Ballard was instrumental in establishing and nurturing Hyatt’s Franchise & Owner Relations Group (FORG). Under his leadership, the Americas Select Service Franchise portfolio saw its highest-ever owner and operator satisfaction scores. Since joining Hyatt in 2006, Ballard has held positions in Revenue Management, Capital Planning and Operations Analytics across all three Hyatt regions – Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, Africa and Middle East. Ballard played a critical role in establishing the global footprint of the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands, spearheading the first Hyatt select service properties in Thailand, China, Japan and Australia, and the first Hyatt branded hotels in Barcelona, Athens and Budapest. His role in implementing global processes and assembling teams in these new markets facilitated the momentous expansion of Hyatt’s international brand presence in the select service segment.

In addition to Ballard’s role, Hyatt has enlisted internal experts and external industry professionals, making substantial leadership appointments in finance and commercial services. Furthermore, the team has strengthened its development efforts by recruiting additional team members who are dedicated to advancing the expansion of the brand.

“Hyatt’s transformative growth demonstrates the importance we place on fostering strong relationships with owners, developers and franchisees,” said Ballard. “Prioritizing owner satisfaction has allowed us to position Hyatt Studios hotels as a compelling option with competitive market availability. By listening to the needs of our owners and guests, we can now offer solutions for more stay occasions for 40 million World of Hyatt loyalty members.”

The Hyatt Studios brand will join Hyatt’s growing portfolio in the Timeless collection and is positioned to transform the extended-stay experience. Developers can expect a product that delivers three main components for success: efficient and scalable prototypes, a lean operating model, and flexible brand and design elements to adapt to local market needs across primary, secondary and tertiary markets. Accommodating extended-stay and transient demand, each Hyatt Studios hotel will be sized to fit approximately 122 rooms with flexibility to scale up or down.

Andaz Mexico City Condesa Officially Debuts in Mexico City

1066 595 wttc2

Andaz Mexico City Condesa Officially Debuts in Mexico City - TOP25HOTELS.com - TRAVELINDEXMexico City, Mexico, January 23, 2023 / TRAVELINDEX / Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today the opening of, Andaz Mexico City Condesa, marking the first urban Andaz property in Mexico and the second Andaz-branded hotel in the country following Andaz Mayakoba Riviera Maya. Located in the charming neighborhood of Condesa, an urban community radiating rich history and culture, the new hotel is ideally situated amongst many of the city’s most noteworthy art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants offering guests the very best of its locale. Boasting a unique roster of guest amenities including a beach club-inspired rooftop restaurant with a robust mixology program, a pet-friendly hideaway, an onsite spa, and one of the tallest outdoor terraces in the area, Andaz Mexico City Condesa is poised to become a mainstay of the Condesa neighborhood.

“Condesa is the perfect neighborhood to debut the Andaz brand in Mexico City,” said Analia Capurro, general manager, Andaz Mexico City Condesa. “Expressions of personal style and creative spirit are at the core of the Andaz ethos – characteristics that Condesa also embodies. Every detail of the hotel was thoughtfully curated to add to the vibrancy of the neighborhood and inspire a fresh perspective of Mexico City. We look forward to welcoming guests, World of Hyatt members, customers, and locals into our hotel to authentically experience this dynamic neighborhood full of character and charm.

The new hotel is housed within the historic ‘i421 Live District.’ Designed by famed architect José Luis Benlliure Galán who is credited with bringing Art Deco architecture to Mexico City, the building was named a Mexico City Heritage Site and is considered a true masterpiece of Mexican architecture. The building has since been carefully restored and preserved, honoring the geometric beauty and architectural empowerment it holds in the Condesa neighborhood. Andaz Mexico City Condesa is the perfect synergy to bring the historic masterpiece back to life, encapsulating the local culture while offering an unparalleled luxury experience designed to elevate the senses.

The interiors of Andaz Mexico City Condesa are reflective of the global influence and progressive style found throughout Mexico City, and pair a modern edge with Art Deco design. Playful colors in the hotel transform ordinary objects into a sparkplug for imagination and creativity, such as a magenta staircase, hot pink walls and saffron sofas, indicative of the vibrant community in which it resides. Such elements, a nod to Mexican architect Luis Barragán’s signature style, integrate seamlessly into the eclectic essence of the Condesa neighborhood while maintaining a bold but luxurious appeal.

The hotel offers 213 residentially inspired guestrooms, including 20 suites, all of which feature views of either the tree-lined avenues of the Condesa neighborhood, an elaborate internal courtyard or, from higher up, sweeping views of Mexico City. Amenities include designer Byredo toiletries, a workstation and minibar filled with Mexican snacks and drinks from locally owned businesses. Curated artwork found in each guestroom evokes a sense of place, from mosaic-tile headboards that pay homage to the building’s significance to paper mache piñata figurines or “alebrijes” made by local artisans. Each guestroom also features a record player with modern and classic vinyl collections that can be exchanged in the lobby library, a tribute to the neighborhood’s oldest record store, La Roma Records.

In keeping with the area’s reputation as the city’s culinary capital, Andaz Mexico City Condesa’s dining venues complement the area’s thriving gastronomic scene. Cabuya Rooftop restaurant brings a Tulum-inspired beach-club ambiance to the hotel’s 17th floor terrace boasting 360-degree views of the Mexico City skyline and weekend D.J. sets. A seasonal culinary menu highlights coastal Baja and Yucatan-inspired flavors with a selection of sharable seafood dishes including smoked marlin tostadas topped with onions, tomato, cilantro and habanero aioli, and grouper ‘zarandeado’, a 500-year-old fish grilling technique from Mexico’s Pacific Coast, seasoned with peppers, tomatoes and spices. The menu is complimented by a signature cocktail program curated by local master mixologist Moisés Sierra Sáenz and features distinct agave creations such as the Pechuga Tonic, made from mezcal de pechuga, orange and mandarin flavors, tonic, and topped off with sparkling wine. Derba Matcha Café, an inviting all-day café located on the hotel’s first floor is the perfect place to refuel before a day of exploration or in between visits to nearby shops. Rich with aroma and flavor, the menu features artisanal sweet breads, small plates, matchas, lattes, mushroom coffee, cocktails and more.

Inspired by the dog-friendly nature of the Condesa neighborhood, the hotel’s Wooftop Beer Garden and Canine Club is primed to become a popular playground for guests and locals to bring their furry companions. Located on the second-floor terrace, the indoor/outdoor space features a stationary food truck serving drinks and snacks, including a special “dog beer”, a pop-up pet accessory shop from local boutique Perro del Mundo, as well as plenty of space to play and roam. In addition to this pet-friendly hangout, four-legged friends will feel right at home at Andaz Mexico City Condesa with a selection of upscale in-room amenities from cozy dog beds to a menu of pup-friendly treats including vegan poke, salmon, baked biscuits and more.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel’s year-round heated rooftop pool offering phenomenal views of the expansive city below. On the hotel’s second floor, guests and locals will find respite at Pasana Spa & Wellness, a sanctuary of relaxation honoring Mexican ancestral traditions of salt as a source of protection, using local products from Mexico. The spa’s menu features a selection of wellness rituals, face treatments, body scrubs and soothing massages, all of which incorporate ancient customs with contemporary practices. The ‘Protection Ritual’, a signature treatment of the spa, utilizes the thermal effects from volcanic salt to relieve muscular tension, balance the mind and protect the spirit. The facility itself offers four treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge, onsite beauty salon and 24-hour fitness center.

For gatherings of up to 700 people, the hotel is equipped with more than 12,674 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces, including a glass ceiling ballroom with customizable color LED lighting technology and an adjoining terrace, an auditorium and three breakout rooms.
