The Athenee Hotel Bangkok with New Approach to Luxury Hospitality

The Athenee Hotel Bangkok with New Approach to Luxury Hospitality - TRAVELINDEXBangkok, Thailand, July 28, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / As pandemic restrictions have been increased in Bangkok, The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok has announced game changing measures offered to guests to give unbeatable space, service and other benefits that have never been as generous for the luxury traveler, either for business or leisure. This approach is centered around the safety and well-being of guests and ensuring a positive lifestyle, even under these new restrictions.

The Athenee Hotel is targeting business guests by not only offering a luxurious room to sleep, but offering additional and completely private and exclusive spaces that are fully sanitized for guests to take advantage of, including complimentary use of an ‘Executive Office Suite’ and ‘Residents Kitchen’ in addition to
‘Restaurant Style Dining’.

The Restaurant Style Dining rooms are adapted hotel rooms offering the ultimate dining experience with stunning views over the Bangkok skyline. They are exclusive to hotel guests and considered an extension to in-room dining but offering the full a la carte menu of food and beverages from any of the four restaurants at the Epicurean Hub. Available all day from 11:30 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., hotel guests can take their time and enjoy lunch, afternoon tea or dinner served by their private butler. Capacity was increased recently due to popular demand as many guests enjoy the Dine-cation Package.

The Dine-cation has also attracted many leisure guests, taking advantage of the Restaurant Style Dining and staying over almost complimentary, as whatever is paid as room rate is given in dining credit. This offer bloomed from the traditional staycation, which came with restrictions meaning people were missing going out to dinner, and so the Dine’cation was born.

With every aspect of dining taken care of, guests can now have their own private office space in addition to their own private dining rooms at The Athenee Hotel. These spaces are offered complimentary, adding to their private and sanitized space of what is normally expected from a hotel. In addition, these Executive Office Suites offer 24-hour access, room service, private bathroom, lounge seating and coffee making machine. Technology support can be provided if needed and up to four registered guests can use together, as an extension to the hotel room. Guests must pre-book, as subject to availability, and they are given the key for private access. Once they are finished, the office suite is cleaned and sanitized, ready for use again. The office is offered to all hotel guests who are staying a little longer, with no time limits and complimentary.

Combining Restaurant Style Dining rooms with an Executive Office Suite, with no additional charge for these spaces, highlights the value offered and has changed the lifestyle of guests staying at the hotel. Recent guests to benefit from these additional benefits and services were the McFaull family who themselves were the inspiration behind some of these enhancements. “Staying in Bangkok for a few months for work with my family, we considered a condo; but this was a game changer for us. Having private workspace around the clock gave a change of environment, privacy, and felt safe. We could live as normal a lifestyle as anyone could have. It was not about price or upgrades but offering a service people really want; we are so grateful,” said Alex McFaull, when talking about his stay.

These are not the only new initiatives with which The Athenee Hotel is leading the way. Others include the new Residents Kitchen, allowing long-stay guests the option to cook, making the hotel a true home away from home. There are even more plans to enhance the lifestyle of guests with more initiatives launching soon…
“During these difficult times, we are adapting to our guests’ needs and these needs have changed drastically and continue to develop based on restrictions and safety measures,” says Ross Park, director of sales and
marketing at The Athenee Hotel.

“Many of our guests are staying longer, and some are not able to go to the office or visit their clients, so we are stepping up and changing the business and leisure landscape in Bangkok. At the same time, we see our loyal guests of The Silk Road (Cantonese), The House of Smooth Curry (Thai), The Allium Bangkok (French) and Kintsugi, by Jeff Ramsey (Japanese) returning using ‘Dine’cation – Stay for Free’.

“This really is a game changer. Our commitment is to offer a true lifestyle experience for our guests, whether business or leisure stays and offering full services on dining, working, fitness, cooking and cultural experiences, even during these times,” added Brendon Partridge, hotel manager.

GHM Plans a Chedi for the Red Sea at El Gouna

1080 608 wttc2

GHM Plans a Chedi for the Red Sea at El Gouna - TRAVELINDEX - TOP25HOTELSEl Gouna, Egypt, July 20, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / GHM has signed an agreement to unveil another Chedi hotel, this time on the Red Sea at El Gouna in Egypt.

The new hotel — The Chedi El Gouna, Red Sea, Egypt — is to be developed on the foundation of an existing, 86-key charming beachfront property. It will be perfected by The Chedi’s signature Asian aesthetics of timeless design.

The Chedi El Gouna marks the third collaboration between the Singapore-based hotel group, GHM, and Switzerland-based Orascom Hotels Management.

The two groups came together on an initial effort that resulted in The Chedi Andermatt, which in five years has established itself as one of Switzerland’s most sophisticated resort experiences.

Orascom and GHM then teamed up to launch The Chedi Luštica Bay on the coast of Montenegro in 2016.

“When you’ve built the kind of momentum we have in Andermatt and Montenegro, it was only a matter of time before a third effort was going to have to come off the ground,” said GHM CEO Tommy Lai. “Given Orascom’s deep roots in Egypt and in El Gouna, a place on the Red Sea was all but inevitable.”

El Gouna is Orascom Development´s flagship town. Stretching over 10km of pristine shoreline on the beautiful Red Sea coast with a total land area of 36.9mn sqm, the town is home to some of the world’s most reputable brands in the tourism and leisure arena.  The town boasts world-class infrastructure, premium services and is famed for its unique lifestyle and growing multinational community.

Its architecture pays homage to the aesthetics of the Nubian village and Egyptian countryside. Some 18 hotels, boasting from three to five stars, and two golf courses form the hospitality backbone of a destination otherwise known for its watersports, beaches and boating.

“We are excited about our partnership with GHM,” said Jens Freise, CCO of Orascom Hotels Management. “We are confident that The Chedi El Gouna will further enhance the town´s gorgeous spirit with its intuitive luxury experience.”

Miraval Resorts Launches Celebration of the Arts

1018 619 wttc2

Miraval Resorts Launches Celebration of the Arts - TRAVELINDEXArizona, United States, July 8, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / Miraval Resorts, Hyatt’s destination spa brand with three award-winning resorts, today announces Celebration of the Arts, a new program designed to promote the therapeutic benefits of the arts. The Celebration of the Arts, which launches this summer at Miraval Arizona, Miraval Austin and Miraval Berkshires, will debut new art programming that is designed to encourage spiritual and emotional nourishment. The new activities will complement and raise awareness for the diverse, existing art programming available at Miraval resorts, which has been central to the brand’s wellness offerings for more than 25 years. As part of the program, Miraval resorts will also invite a celebrated local artist to stay in-residence at each of the three properties to create a mural for the resort and interact with guests as they observe the creative process.

“Miraval has long been an advocate of the arts and its powerful benefits of mindfulness,” said Susan Santiago, head of Miraval operations at Hyatt. “For years, the Miraval brand has championed the works of local artisans, from the sculpture collection at Miraval Arizona to the paintings within the halls of Miraval Berkshires, and has offered creative activities that allow guests to focus on the present moment and look inwards. We’re excited to launch the Celebration of the Arts this summer, which will further immerse our guests in the culture of their destination and help them cultivate meaningful relationships with themselves, other guests and our resident artists.”

Miraval Arizona

During the Celebration of the Arts, Miraval Arizona will invite Lucinda Hinojos to be artist-in-residence this summer. Lucinda, who is of Xicana, Apache and Yaqui descent, is a self-taught muralist and painter who began her arts career by curating underground art exhibits for local artists. She advocates for women’s and immigrant’s rights through her work, and she has frequently worked with immigrant rights organizations to organize art shows. From June 28 to July 23, Lucinda will design and bring to life a mural that embodies her artistic flair and values.

Guests at Miraval Arizona will be encouraged to explore their imagination and enhance their intuition through a myriad of programs, including Paint the Music, a thought-provoking workshop that uses music to immerse guests in an unconstrained and playful experience while guiding them to produce a personal piece of artwork. Guests will also be able to further expand their consciousness in another program titled Artistic Expression Under Glass¸ where they learn to embrace their artistic abilities and foster a greater sense of wellbeing through the art of reverse-painting, a technique that asks guests to work backwards and rethink their approach to accomplishing goals.

Miraval Austin

Self-taught artist Sadé Lawson will be the resident artist at Miraval Austin throughout August. Sadé, who channels the ambitious and creative energy of women in her life into her artwork, has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Austin since 2018. Using her creativity to process the world around her, Sadé harnesses the power of color to address topics from mental wellbeing and racial identity to hope and inspiration. During her stay at Miraval Austin, Sadé will design a mural by the resort’s Discovery Pool.

Coinciding with Sadé’s residency this summer, Miraval Austin will offer Mindful Mandala Rock Painting, a workshop where guests paint and sculpt mandalas, ancient circles that can be used to center oneself and connect with others. Guests will also be able to partake in a new class titled Suminigashi: The Art of Letting Go. During this activity, guests paint with ink on water, creating moving marble designs that flow without manipulation. This beautiful art form reminds guests to free themselves of expectation, a philosophy that mirrors the unrestricted strokes of ink as they glide above the water.

Miraval Berkshires

In August, painter and graphic designer Jesse Tobin McCauley will be featured as Miraval Berkshires’ artist-in-residence and create a mural in the tunnel that connects the main resort grounds with the Meadowview Farm and Barn. A resident of Pittsfield, Mass., Jesse studied art at Otis College of Art & Design and has worked as a graphic designer in Los Angeles, New York and the Berkshires. She sits on the board of the Berkshire Art Association, a non-profit organization that aims to increase local access to the arts, and is also part of Group W, an art collective that conceptualizes and holds large-scale exhibitions. Her artwork, which is often characterized by impactful bursts of saturated color, evokes a sense of whimsy and joy from its viewers.

At Miraval Berkshires, guests will be able to partake in the mural’s creation process through interactive chalkboard frames that invite guests to answer introspective questions. Prompts such as “What is your intention?” and “What are you grateful for?” will be displayed in the tunnel, and guests will be encouraged to write their answers on the chalkboards and reflect on their Miraval journey. Coinciding with Jesse’s residency, Miraval Berkshires will also launch a new program named Manifest Your Desires: A Vision Board Creation. During this activity, guests will utilize their creative spirit to construct a vision board, a visual representation of their goals and dreams actualized through imagery and artwork. This activity is intended to inspire and empower guests as they focus their intentions and transform them into reality.

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui Cuts Ribbon on New Resort

1080 747 wttc2

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui Cuts Ribbon on New Resort - TRAVELINDEXKoh Samui, Thailand, July 7, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / One of Thailand’s most anticipated resorts, Hyatt Regency Koh Samui, was unveiled yesterday on Koh Samui. Several VIP guests attended the opening ceremony, which took place in the resort’s showpiece lobby—the longest lobby arrival point in Koh Samui.

Among those present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Ramnet Jaikwang, mayor of Koh Samui, Pimnipa Poolvaraluck and Itthichai Poolvaraluck of Koh Samui Vipat Co Ltd, the resort’s ownership company, and Adrian Pulido, the hotel’s general manager.

Ittichai Poolvaraluck, Chief Business Officer of Koh Samui Vipat Co Ltd, speaking after the ceremony, said: “The resort will play a part in driving the economy and promoting community tourism on Koh Samui.”

As the paradise island eyes a reopening to international tourists over the coming months, the opening is a landmark on the road to recovery. Thailand’s government is ready to unveil its Samui Plus Model, which will allow fully vaccinated tourists to travel to Koh Samui without having to quarantine.

“The resort has been certified for hygiene and is certified SHA (Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration) from the Tourism Authority of Thailand,” added Mr Ittichai. “We have put in place hygiene and safety measures in the resort to prepare to welcome returning tourists.”

A collaboration between three of Thailand’s biggest hotel design names — Office of Bangkok Architecture, August Design and PLandscaping — the 140-room property occupies eight acres of private coastline in the far northeast corner of the paradise island.

Deploying a design-forward philosophy, the property, which is located in North Chaweng — and is less than ten minutes from the island’s international airport— bills itself as a “vacation gallery” due to its array of visual highlights.

These include a showpiece lobby, the longest lobby arrival point in Koh Samui, where numerous skylights allow for natural illumination by the sun and the moon. Other standout features span plush accommodations that showcase terrific ocean views to one of the largest pool zones on the island, a collection of pools, each cascading down from the main pool on the upper deck of the resort.

The beauty of Koh Samui is legendary. And the resort’s appeal leverages the visual appeal of the coastal landscape, a forest of protected trees and the proximity of the ocean. Another unique selling point is its Gallery of Eight, a collection of eight sites dotted around the property specially selected for their photogenic potential.

The 140 guestrooms, which include 24 spacious suites and villas, feature private balconies and most offer stunning sea views. Select rooms include access to Regency Club privileges, while seven beachfront pool villas provide elevated indulgence. Spaces benefit from the simplicity of the interior design—by August Design— in a neutral palette with ocean-inspired décor and blue accents.
