Magnificent Culinary Collaboration Between Blue Elephant and basil - TRAVELINDEXBangkok, Thailand, November 11, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / In a moment destined to be remembered as one of Bangkok’s most extraordinary culinary events, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok proudly presents “Once in a Lifetime” – an exquisite Four-Hands Charity Dinner that unites two icons of Thai gastronomy: Master Chef Nooror Somany Steppe of Blue Elephant and Chef Manachai Konkangplu of basil.

Taking place on Thursday, 13 November 2025 at basil, this exceptional evening is more than a dinner — it is a journey through time, flavor, and compassion, bringing together the past and present of Thai culinary artistry in support of Operation Smile and the Mercy Centre Klong Toey, under the Marriott Worldwide Business Council Thailand’s “Road to Give” initiative.

A Dialogue of Eras: Tradition Meets Evolution

In a mesmerizing six-course experience, Master Chef Nooror and Chef Manachai engage in a culinary dialogue — each course a reflection of their philosophies, heritage, and devotion to the Thai kitchen. Together, they weave an unforgettable narrative where royal recipes once lost to time meet modern interpretations of simplicity perfected through precision.

The evening begins with the “Prelude to the Journey,” where Chef Manachai’ s Raw Thai Wagyu Beef Salad with Wild Basil Leaves pays homage to his Isan roots. Bold yet refined, this dish transforms a humble hunter’s recipe into a modern expression of courage and craftsmanship.

In “Chapter I – The Encounter,” Master Chef Nooror presents her iconic Phetchabun Tamarind & French “Landes” Foie Gras and Chicken Wing — a groundbreaking creation that first redefined Thai fine dining 45 years ago. This symphony of tamarind, palm sugar, and foie gras remains a landmark in Thai culinary innovation, epitomizing the fusion of Thai heritage and French elegance.

“Chapter II – The Dialogue of Masters” unfolds as a crescendo of collaboration.
Chef Manachai’s Southern Thai Blue Crab Curry, a tribute to his mentor Ajarn Srisamorn, harmonizes traditional southern spice with contemporary finesse.

The course continues with Sea Bass with “Whisper of Love” — Chef Manachai’s signature reinterpretation of the classic curry, paired with a crisp pandan-wrapped black sticky rice whose texture and legend embody Thai romance reborn.

It is followed by Master Chef Nooror’s Klong Phai Free-Range Chicken Curry with Rice Noodles & Southern Braised Beef Cheek in Green Curry Paste, a radiant union of flavors inspired by her royal Thai lineage and global artistry.

The journey culminates in the “Finale – The Sweet Reminiscence,” as Chef Manachai reawakens the royal dessert Kanom Koh Mapraw Orn.
Steamed glutinous rice dumplings filled with sweet shredded coconut are bathed in อบเทียน (candle-scented) coconut cream — perfumed with cinnamon, jasmine smoke, and pandan — an aroma that whispers of ancient Thai kitchens illuminated by candlelight.

A Night of Heritage, Heart, and Humanity

This exceptional collaboration extends beyond gastronomy — it is a celebration of Thai culture, generosity, and the spirit of giving back.
The event forms part of Marriott International’s global “Road to Give” initiative, an annual charity movement uniting associates and guests across the world through wellness and community-driven fundraising efforts.

All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Operation Smile, which provides free cleft surgeries for children in need, and the Mercy Centre Klong Toey, which supports underprivileged communities in Bangkok through education and care.

“This dinner is more than a culinary collaboration; it is a dialogue between generations — where legacy meets evolution,” said Anne Poonnika, Executive Assistant Manager, Sales & Marketing at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. “To see Master Chef Nooror and Chef Manachai share one kitchen, one vision, and one purpose is a moment of grace. Together, they remind us that true artistry transcends time — and that generosity, like great cuisine, begins with the heart.”

The Hari Hong Kong Partners Showcases Contemporary Artists Rooted to Indonesia

900 675 wttc2

The Hari Hong Kong Partners Showcases Contemporary Artists Rooted to Indonesia - TRAVELINDEXHong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, November 11, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / The Hari Hong Kong has partnered with White Cube Hong Kong, to share a selection of works from ‘Thresholds,’ a group exhibition featuring the work of contemporary artists whose practices are rooted in or connected to Indonesia.

Through a diverse range of mediums, the temporary exhibition explores the interwoven cycles of life, death and transformation, with a focus on themes of ritual, spirituality, and reincarnation. Artworks will be on display at the hotel until 31 March 2026.

To celebrate the exhibition, The Hari Hong Kong is offering menu specials inspired by Indonesian cuisine. At The Lounge, one of the public spaces where ‘Thresholds’ adorns the walls, visitors can enjoy dishes such as chicken karaage wrapped in pandan leaf, or pandan coconut panna cotta. These can be enjoyed alongside the Threshold Special, a pandan-flavoured cocktail or mocktail. The pandan leaf, a staple in Indonesian cooking, adds a sweet aroma and vibrant green colour to the limited-time dishes and drinks. The pandan leaf also holds spiritual significance. Known as a symbol of purity, the leaf is often used for the woven basket of Canang Sari, daily offerings.

Curated by Galuh Sukardi, an independent curator based in Indonesia, ‘Thresholds’ brings together painting, sculpture, textile, drawing and silverware by multigenerational artists: Galuh Anindita, Arahmaiani, Christine Ay Tjoe, Nadiah Bamadhaj, Kei Imazu, Ines Katamso, I Gusti Ayu Kadek Murniasih (Murni), Citra Sasmita and Jennifer Tee.

Each artist charts their own individual journey of transformation: spiritual, political, physical or mythological. Forming a chorus of unique experiences, each shaped by the crossing of a ‘threshold’, the works selected reflect an understanding of the coexistence of light and dark; a dynamic whereby opposite forces are not at odds but held in balance.

Rooted in Indonesian traditions, and amid contemporary ecological, spiritual and social fractures, the exhibition takes the concept of the black-and-white Balinese poleng cloth as a point of a departure. Traditionally used to adorn statues, shrines and sacred trees, the cloth’s bold, criss-crossing pattern symbolises a harmony of opposites.

‘Thresholds’ at The Hari Hong Kong extends White Cube’s collaboration with the hotel through their annual The Hari Art Prize, which originated in The Hari London, with Irene Bradbury, Global Director, Artist Liaison at White Cube, serving on the judging panel for the London prize. In 2023, The Hari Hong Kong introduced this event, now in its third year.  Wendy Xu, Managing Director, Asia at White Cube, is part of the judging panel for The Hari Art Prize 2026 in Hong Kong.

‘Thresholds, curated by Galuh Sukardi’ is on view at White Cube Hong Kong until 10 January 2026. Concurrently, the exhibition extends to The Hari Hong Kong until 31 March 2026.

About The Hari Hong Kong

Opened in December 2020, The Hari Hong Kong is the vision of Dr. Aron Harilela, Chairman and CEO of Harilela Hotels Ltd, and the second hotel to open under the ‘The Hari’ brand. Fodor’s Selects Banyan Tree Krabi as the Finest Hotel in Thailand

900 599 wttc2

Fodor’s Selects Banyan Tree Krabi as the Finest Hotel in Thailand - TOP25HOTELS.comKrabi, Thailand, November 6, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / The much-anticipated “Fodor’s Finest Hotels 2026” was announced last week, featuring the 100 “most incredible” hotels and resorts in the world, a prized list that included just 15 hotels in Asia, and only one in Thailand — Banyan Tree Krabi.

We are proud to say that every single property on this list has been vetted by our team of editors and writers,” said US-based Fodor’s, a major publisher of travel guides since 1949, noting that the selection process to narrow down the list to just 100 hotels was at times “brutal and fastidious”.

Fodor’s Managing Editor Rachael Levitt said that each property is evaluated on its service, design, uniqueness, amenities, and overall guest comfort.

Levitt, who personally reviewed Banyan Tree Krabi, said the resort is a place where “sustainability goes hand in hand with comfort and luxury.

Thailand is famous for its hospitality, and the team here is exceptional,” she wrote. “Dedication to the community is also a feature. Local cold-press coffee showcases an up-and-coming Thai industry. The gallery sells only locally created artisan goods, and the gorgeous restaurants—Saffron, The Naga Kitchen, and Bird’s Nest—highlight regional delicacies alongside Southeast Asian fusion and international favorites in a stunning landscape.

Fodor’s also highlighted Banyan Tree Krabi’s unique location, nestled in the corner of tranquil Tubkaek Beach some 40km from Krabi International Airport, where the resort is surrounded by nature, facing westward towards limestone cliffs in the Andaman Sea, while enjoying the splendour of a verdant hillside as a spectacular backdrop.

To be selected by Fodor’s as one of the 100 best hotels in the world for 2026 is a great honour,” said Banyan Tree Krabi General Manager Ms Haruethai Maneerat. “This prestigious award is a reflection of our team’s dedication to excellence and a tribute to the Banyan Tree brand.”

One of Banyan Tree Krabi’s most outstanding attributes is its sustainability programme, a feature that was highlighted by Fodor’s. Led by Sustainability Manager Ms Thepsuda Loyjiw, a marine biologist, the resort has consistently reduced consumption rates and has adopted eco-friendly practices towards waste management, recycling and protecting natural resources.

One of the resort’s chief projects is the establishment of partnerships with local food producers and artisans. One such successful collaboration is “Souvenirs from the Sea”, a partnership with local artisans who collect refuse from the beach and upcycle it into souvenirs such as tote bags, which are then put on sale at the resort’s onsite boutique, Banyan Tree Gallery Krabi.

The Fodor’s Finest Hotels 2026 announcement follows the news in October that Banyan Tree Krabi was among a select number of resorts to be awarded Two Keys by MICHELIN in its annual appraisal of hotels across Thailand.

The Resort

Banyan Tree Krabi has 72 pool suites and villas, among them seven two-bedroom options, one three-bedroom villa, and a majestic seven-bedroom Presidential Beachfront Pool Villa.

Facilities include two restaurants and a beach bar, a beach club, a kids’ club, a fitness centre, meeting rooms, and a rainforest-themed spa.
