Srinakharinwirot University to host the PATA Youth Symposium 2025 - TRAVELINDEX

Srinakharinwirot University to host the PATA Youth Symposium 2025 - TRAVELINDEXBangkok, Thailand, August 11, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is set to organise the PATA Youth Symposium 2025 at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday, August 25, before the start of PATA Travel Mart 2025. The event is generously hosted by the International College for Sustainability Studies, Srinakharinwirot University (SWUIC) in collaboration with Bangkok University International (BUI).
The symposium – featuring interactive panel discussions, inspiring student-led dialogues, and exciting opportunities to connect with industry leaders from across the Asia Pacific tourism industry – is set to equip young professionals with the tools to become “career-ready” in a rapidly evolving industry.

“Empowering youth is not just an investment in their future, it is an investment in the future of the tourism industry. Together, as an industry, we must build the bridges that lead them from aspiration to achievement.” stated PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid. “It is one of PATA’s proudest works to guide the new generation of tourism professionals, both those who have only begun their journey and those who are excelling towards their goals, and ensure that they are ready to overcome obstacles and seize the opportunities once they join the workforce.”

He continued, “PATA is, of course, grateful to our host, the International College for Sustainability Studies, Srinakharinwirot University, and all participating organisations for joining us in supporting the rising stars of our industry. Without them, this event would not be possible.”

Thanakorn Thongprayoon, Dean of the International College for Sustainability Studies, Srinakharinwirot University, commented: “SWUIC is truly honoured to host this inspiring and forward-looking event. The PATA Youth Symposium 2025 aligns closely with our mission to foster globally minded graduates who are not only career-ready, but also committed to creating a sustainable and inclusive future for the tourism industry. We believe in the power of youth, and by connecting them with industry leaders, we can ignite new ideas and drive meaningful change in our shared future.”

As the host of the PATA Youth Symposium 2025, SWUIC will warmly welcome all participants to its campus. The institution is committed to shaping students into global citizens with a deep understanding of sustainability and diversity, while equipping them with the knowledge and skills essential for today’s world. It offers the ideal setting to explore current career pathways in travel and tourism and examine the trends shaping the industry’s future.

Brief Overview of the Programme

On August 25, the Symposium is set to commence with two inspiring keynote speakers: Sophia Montgomery, Physics Student at Harvard University and Paris 2024 Olympian in Women’s Dinghy Sailing, and Jonathan Low, CEO, Global Success Learning Academy.

The programme will continue with an interactive panel discussion featuring graduates who have successfully transitioned into the tourism workforce. Participants are encouraged to engage in this two-way dialogue that bridges experience with ambition.

On practical career insights, the symposium will hold two additional panel sessions. During, “Uncovering the Unseen: Discovering Hidden Careers in Tourism,” experts from the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association TICA, Intrepid Travel, and iSanook Hotels & Resorts will highlight niche and lesser-known career paths in the tourism sector that students may not have previously considered. Later on in, “Career-Ready: How to Impress Recruiters,” human resource professionals from Dusit International and other leading companies will share actionable tips to help students better prepare for the job market.

The day will conclude with a Student Chapter workshop, to be co-organised by PATA Thailand SWUIC Student Chapter and the PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter.

Alongside the award launch, ASEANTA introduced the Discover ASEAN Microsite, an initiative co-developed by MOVE in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat. The microsite is accessible via the MOVE app’s homepage, and it features curated recommendations on food, culture, and destinations across ASEAN countries, alongside verified travel requirements, links to each country’s official immigration websites, and up-to-date health and safety guidelines.

The content is drawn from ASEAN’s official tourism website and verified by the respective National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), ensuring accuracy and reliability for travellers. By consolidating this information and integrating access to book flights, hotels, and other travel services within the MOVE app, the microsite significantly lowers barriers to intra-ASEAN travel and encourages greater regional mobility. Jim Thompson X Juli Baker and Summer: Limited Edition Silk Scarf Collaboration in Celebration of Mother’s Day

Jim Thompson X Juli Baker and Summer Limited Edition Silk Scarf Collaboration in Celebration of Mother’s Day - TRAVELINDEX

Jim Thompson X Juli Baker and Summer Limited Edition Silk Scarf Collaboration in Celebration of Mother’s Day - TRAVELINDEX

Bangkok, Thailand, August 08, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Jim Thompson is proud to announce a new artistic collaboration with Juli Baker and Summer, as part of its acclaimed Artists-in-Residence campaign, with a range of 3 unique silk scarf designs incorporating themes of womanhood, motherhood, and family memories. The limited-edition collection is now available in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Launched at the beginning of 2023, the Artists-in-Residence campaign has successfully infused the Thai fashion industry with fresh energy and creativity with a range of artistic collaborations. Juli Baker and Summer is the first collaboration in the Jim Thompson Artists-in-Residence 2025: Scarf Edition, which will feature three emerging Thai artists, each invited to design prints exclusively for the brand’s iconic collection.

Chanaradee “Phaan” Chatrakul Na Ayudhya, also known as Juli Baker and Summer, is a writer, artist, and enthusiastic traveler. Her paintings are characterized by vivid, semi-abstract shapes, and color palettes that evoke the warmth of summer. Conveying layered themes of womanhood, her compositions often depict young women, both relaxed and emotionally overwhelmed, with stylized brushstrokes and excerpts of her handwriting to present an array of her subjects’ emotions.  Both Jim Thompson and Juli Baker and Summer believe that design is more than aesthetics—it is a powerful medium for storytelling.

Jim Thompson X Juli Baker and Summer Collection

The collection consists of three floral silk scarf prints, entitled Alisa, Plath’s Fig Tree, and Mom’s Sunflower, each representing a love letter to mothers, daughters, and the many roles women play. The dream-like tones blend memories, femininity, and floral imagery into something joyful, yet reflective. Each piece showcases the expressive quality of Juli Baker and Summer’s original hand-painted artworks.

  • Alisa is a tribute to the artist’s grandmother. When she could no longer walk to the garden, the family would bring her flowers from around their home, including bougainvillea, hibiscus, and yellow elder that are present in the design.
  • Plath’s Fig Tree is an homage to the late American author, Sylvia Plath. The artwork was inspired by a passage in her first novel, The Bell Jar, which made the artist reflect on the lives of her mother and grandmother, how their dreams were shaped or sacrificed under the weight of gender roles and societal expectations.
  • Mom’s Sunflower represented the artist’s recollection of a letter her mother wrote to her after she took her on a trip to Japan. The letter was signed off with the gentle words, “Thank you, my little sunflower. May you bloom wherever you go”.

“I’ve admired Jim Thompson, not just as a brand, but for how they’ve celebrated local craftsmanship and incorporated independent Thai artists’ designs over the years,” added Juli Baker and Summer. “This collection feels especially intimate and personal, having left a mark on me as an artist and as a daughter. Through these works I wanted to explore motherhood in all its forms, its beauty, complexity, and quiet strength, using flowers as symbols for the stories, sacrifices, and tenderness that often go unspoken. I hope it resonates with others, especially those who see parts of their own stories reflected in it.”

The scarf collection, meticulously crafted from printed 100% silk twill in a 33″ x 33″ square format, showcases the expressive quality of the original hand-painted artworks, translated to a lightweight fabric with Jim Thompson’s renowned precision. Every shade, every brushstroke feels alive, preserving the texture and expressive quality of the original paintings. Both a conversation piece statement and a versatile wardrobe essential, each scarf makes for a heartfelt, thoughtful gift for mothers and loved ones this coming Mother’s Day.
