Banyan Hua Hin Unveils Conscious Living Inspired Villa Suasana Project - TRAVELINDEX - TOP25VILLAS.comHua Hin, Thailand, January 3, 2023 / TRAVELINDEX / Villa Suasana integrates a multitude of sustainable solutions into the project in the Banyan Residences community. The world is changing. Urbanisation is giving way to escapism as a rising number of city dwellers seek a healthy, active lifestyle, away from the traffic and tension of their metropolitan lives. In line with this rising trend, Banyan Hua Hin is fast-becoming one of the country’s most desirable places to live, work and relax.

Nestled between the mountains and the sea in Hua Hin, on Thailand’s gulf coast, the exclusive community of luxury residences, pool villas, world-class golf and medical facilities has a proven track record of helping Bangkok’s residents to realise their dreams of a new life. Now, the company is building on its successful formula.

The launch of Villa Suasana, an all-new residential concept dedicated to natural and sustainable living, will further enhance Banyan Hua Hin’s status as an appealing destination for a generation of “conscious” urbanites, executives and entrepreneurs.

Villa Suasana is specifically designed for individuals, couples and families who want to experience a sense of freedom and have a more sustainable impact on the planet. Named after the Balinese word for “atmosphere,” these luxurious two- and three-bedroom pool residences offer 180 to 303 square metres of naturally-lit space, with bright and spacious interiors, contemporary furnishings, shady terraces and a refreshing private pool.

The new concept also puts sustainability at its core, with integrated eco solutions including solar panels, salt-water pools and pure water filters. And under a limited-time offer, every new owner will receive two complimentary Segway Ninebot KickScooter F25s – the ultimate clean, green way to get around the Banyan Hua Hin community.

As a further endorsement of its quality, Banyan Residences has been named as the “Best Housing Development – Hua Hin” at the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2022. Judged by a group of industry specialists, the award was based upon the contemporary design of the villas, their liveability and surrounding facilities, which include the highly-acclaimed 18-hole Banyan Golf Club and onsite Be Well Medical Center. Banyan Hua Hin’s senior management team collected the accolade at a black-tie gala ceremony at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok.

“In the post-pandemic era, society has evolved and people are prioritising their personal health, wellness and sustainability above all else. As flexible, remote working becomes the norm, an increasing number of executives are choosing to avoid the hecticness and time-loss caused by a daily commute in heavy traffic. Bangkok families are spending more of their free time closer to nature and enjoying the beach life. With Banyan Hua Hin and Villa Suasana, business and leisure come together amid uplifting scenery and pure air. It’s a healthy, active and truly inspirational environment,” said Tjeert Kwant, Group CEO of Banyan Thailand.

The award marks the latest vote of confidence for Banyan Hua Hin, from buyers and the industry alike. The community experienced a surge in sales throughout the pandemic as urban residents sought a healthy active lifestyle outside of Bangkok and international long-stay visitors returned in healthy numbers.

Villa Suasana prices start from THB 9.5 million.

ROUND-UP: Dec. 19-30, 2022

600 275 wttc2

Besides atrocious, debilitating weather across much of the continent, and resulting travel chaos, cancellations, and lost bags, the world of travel continued to turn over the holidays as China took its biggest steps yet to open its borders – in both directions. Also, Air Canada and WestJet were rated for punctuality, and StatsCan said what we all know: Canadians are travelling again. Read on for the rest of the news you have may have missed while shovelling, or unwrapping gifts.

NEWS

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are opening a new NEXUS/Free and Secure Trade (FAST) enrolment centre in Ogdensburg, NY, near Brockville, Ont., today (Jan. 3). CBSA border services officers and US CBP officers will work together at the centre to conduct interviews. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applicants can schedule their interview on the CBP’s Trusted Traveler portal.

Statistics Canada says Canadian international travel rebounded sharply in October as the transportation industry continued its post-pandemic recovery. The agency says Canadian residents returned from 3.3 million trips abroad in October, nearly four times the figure recorded during the same month of 2021. International arrivals to Canada, which includes both visitors and returning residents of Canada, hit almost three-quarters the level seen in October 2019 before the pandemic began.

BORDERS

The Hong Kong SAR Government announced the lifting of all mandatory PCR test requirements for inbound travellers upon arrival in Hong Kong, as well as the lifting of the Vaccine Pass which allowed access to specified premises and other measures effective Dec. 29.

China’s announcement that it will end quarantines for travellers from abroad on Jan. 8 is the biggest step toward ending limits that have kept most foreign visitors out of China since early 2020. Quarantines were reduced last month from seven days to five. The government also downgraded the official seriousness of COVID-19 and dropped a requirement for people with the virus to be quarantined. That added to a rapid drumbeat of steps to dismantle controls that had been expected to stay in place at least through mid-2023.

BY THE NUMBERS

Jamaica is set to have a record winter tourist season, with the Jamaica Tourist Board forecasting that it will welcome nearly 1.5 million visitors – 950,000 stopovers and 524,000 from cruise that represents a 67.5% increase in comparison to the same period in 2022. Earnings are projected to increase by 36.3%.

AIR

Aviation analytics company Cirium says Canada’s two biggest airlines ranked low in terms of on-time performance this year. The data firm says that among the 10 biggest airlines in Canada and the US, Air Canada and WestJet Airlines ranked worst and second-worst for their punctuality. Cirium says Air Canada had on-time arrivals (meaning within 15 minutes of the schedule) for about 55.6% of its roughly 143,000 flights as of mid-December. WestJet managed on-time arrivals for 60.7% of its roughly 89,000 flights. Cirium says top-ranked Delta Air Lines had on-time arrivals for about 84% of its 960,000 flights. The data doesn’t include the latest travel woes this past week caused by major winter storms.

Citing “extenuating circumstances,” Sunwing is suspending operations from its Saskatoon and Regina airports through to Feb. 3. The airline says it has been difficult to sort out the delays because of displaced crews and airplanes.

American Airlines is launching more Caribbean flying from its Miami hub with new service to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The new seasonal flight, operated daily by Envoy with an Embraer E175 aircraft, will start on June 1 and will run through the summer, restarting again in November.

DEALS

Sunwing’s ‘Boxing Sale Week’ continues through Jan. 8 with non-stop deals on every vacation package to the tropics including Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, and Costa Rica. The offer applies to travel through April 20.

Silversea Cruises has enhanced its pricing structure with an innovative ‘prepaid’ option for the wave period, offering up to 20% savings on selected port-to-port voyages. Travellers will save between 10% and 20% on new bookings made by Feb. 28 when paying the non-refundable cruise fare in full within five days. Silversea’s wave promotion comprises an extensive door-to-door all-inclusive offering with a reduced deposit of 15%, port-to-port all-inclusive fares for increased flexibility, and new prepaid port-to-port all-inclusive fares for even greater savings.

TOURS

Avalon Waterways has announced plans to bring back author of the bestselling “Outlander” series, Diana Gabaldon, who will host a “Storyteller” cruise on the Danube River in April, 2024. Fans will meet and get insights from the novels/TV show with Gabaldon, while cruising through central Europe on a seven-night “Danube Dreams” cruise from Deggendorf to Budapest.

HOTELS

The Mount Nevis Hotel in St. Kitts and Nevis has re-opened its doors (photo). The family owned and operated hotel has undergone a refresh, including beautifying its seven hectares and refurbishing its 45 rooms and suites.

Copacabana Palace, A Belmond Hotel, Rio de Janeiro, is celebrating its centenary year in 2023. This popular hotel, which has been welcoming the world’s travellers for over 26 years, will be refurbished and rebranded as Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium, creating localised guest experiences aligned with the vision of Accor’s premium brand.

Perfectly located on New Phetchaburi Road in downtown Bangkok, just a short distance from Sukhumvit Road, the city’s most dynamic commercial and retail district, and easily accessible via Phetchaburi MRT subway station, the hotel is ideal for business and leisure visitors alike.

The 568 rooms and suites offer panoramic city views and premium amenities, including business desks, locally inspired artworks and bathrooms with rain showers and bathtubs. Eight room categories, ranging in size from 30 to 129 square metres, ensure plenty of choice for corporate guests, couples and families.

The hotel will offer an array of leisure facilities including an outdoor swimming pool and sundeck, a fully-equipped fitness centre and serene spa, and diverse dining options including a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, an all-day dining destination, pool bar and deli. For meeting planners, the hotel has a ballroom and a selection of meeting rooms that can host up to 350 people for corporate and social events.

Grand Mercure’s vision for a new style of international hospitality began in 1997. A group of hoteliers wanted to provide sophisticated locals with premium hotel standards while being respectful of their values. The first Grand Mercure hotel opened in São Paulo and since then the brand has blossomed around the globe, satisfying the growing desire to honour cultural identities.

“Just as no two countries are completely alike, no two Grand Mercure hotels are completely alike,” says Garth Simmons, Chief Executive Officer for Accor, Southeast Asia, Japan & South Korea. “Each property is tailored to offer a uniquely local spirit, where the community can feel at home and visitors can discover the unexpected. I am proud to welcome Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium to our network, becoming our fourth Grand Mercure in Thailand. This signing demonstrates the confidence that owners continue to place in Accor’s renowned brands, local knowhow and experts spanning every function of the hotel business.”

To honour each region’s way of life, Grand Mercure properties bring each country’s culture and customs to life for today’s travellers. By showcasing the destination’s authentic rituals, each hotel inspires local guests to rediscover their culture and travellers from afar to gain a deeper understanding of their destination – all while enjoying outstanding international premium services.

“Our hotel has been one of Bangkok’s most popular places to stay ever since it first opened in 1996. Now, by harnessing the global strength and premium, local style of the Grand Mercure brand, we are embarking on an exciting new era of hospitality. I am confident that this new partnership with Accor will delight our returning clientele and help us attract many new guests in future,” said Khushroo Wadia, Executive Director of Maxwin Builders Ltd., the owning Company of the Hotel.

Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium is easily accessible via road and rail, including Bangkok’s elevated expressways and MRT subway network. Makkasan Station, the downtown terminal of the Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi International Airport, is just a short distance away.

The Grand Mercure network consists of more than 55 hotels in 12 countries worldwide. Its efficient size allows the brand to focus on each individual property. The brand boasts a pipeline of 30 new hotels and 7,200 rooms due to open in the coming years.

1080 494 wttc2

Looking to get off the beaten track and discover the essence of rural, sustainable tourism in 2023? Consider these villages – the world’s best in 2022, according to the UNWTO – designated from across destinations from Austria to Vietnam.

The ‘Best Tourism Villages 2022’ accolade by the World Tourism Organization recognizes rural destinations that are embracing tourism as a driver of development and new opportunities for jobs and income, while preserving and promoting community-based values and products.

The initiative also recognizes villages for their commitment to innovation and sustainability in all its aspects – economic, social, and environmental – and a focus on developing tourism in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In late 2022, a total of 32 villages from 18 countries in the five world regions were awarded the recognition for the year. The villages were evaluated by an independent Advisory Board based on a set of criteria covering nine areas:

• Cultural and Natural Resources
• Promotion and Conservation of Cultural Resources
• Economic Sustainability
• Social Sustainability
• Environmental Sustainability
• Tourism Development and Value Chain Integration
• Governance and Prioritization of Tourism
• Infrastructure and Connectivity
• Health, Safety, and Security

“For rural communities everywhere, tourism can be a true gamechanger in providing jobs, supporting local businesses and keeping traditions alive,” says UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. “The Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO showcase the power of the sector to drive economic diversification and create opportunities for all outside of big cities.”

A further 20 villages will enter the Upgrade Program. All 52 villages will also become part of the UNWTO Best Tourism Villages Global Network created in 2021 which from this date gathers 115 villages from the five continents. The Network provides a number of benefits including onsite and online training, sharing of good practices and international brand recognition and awareness.

The Best Tourism Villages initiative is the flagship project of the UNWTO Tourism for Rural Development Program, which includes three pillars:

1. The ‘Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO’: Recognizes villages that are an outstanding example of a rural tourism destination with accredited cultural and natural assets, that preserve and promote rural and community-based values, products, and lifestyle and have a clear commitment to innovation and sustainability in all its aspects – economic, social and environmental.

2. The ‘Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO’ Upgrade Programme: The Upgrade Programme benefits a number of villages that do not fully meet the criteria to receive recognition. These villages receive support from UNWTO and its Partners in improving elements of the areas identified as gaps in the evaluation process.

3. The ‘Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO’ Global Network: The Network provides a space for exchanging experiences and good practices, learnings, and opportunities. It includes experts and public and private sector partners engaged in the promotion of tourism for rural development, as well.
