The launch event was held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta and was officiated by Ni Luh Puspa, Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and Nararya S. Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN.

“The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is proud to welcome ASEANTA’s initiative to launch the program on ASEAN Day. As one of the region’s leading tourism destinations, we fully support this joint initiative to strengthen ASEAN’s shared identity and unlock greater opportunities for collaboration. Let us inspire more travelers to explore what makes our region vibrant, diverse, and united,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Ni Luh Puspa.

These initiatives highlight ASEAN’s united commitment to boost regional tourism recovery, digital innovation, and cross-border collaboration, aligning with the region’s broader post-pandemic development agenda.

“These initiatives symbolize our collective ambition to recover, to grow, and to lead. The ASEANTA Tourism Award raises the bar for our industry, while Discover ASEAN brings the stories of Southeast Asia to life through the power of digital travel. We thank AirAsia MOVE for turning this vision into reality and call on tourism players from all sectors to be part of this momentum,” said President of ASEANTA, Eddy Krismeidi Soemawilaga.

The 39th ASEANTA Tourism Award is a first-of-its-kind regional accolade celebrating excellence, innovation, and impact in Southeast Asia’s tourism industry. The award covers 12 categories, spotlighting a wide range of contributions from digital campaigns to sustainability efforts, cultural heritage, and travel content.

The award categories are:

  1. Best Travel Article – Outstanding storytelling that promotes ASEAN tourism through written features or blog content.
  2. Best Airline Programme – Innovative air travel campaigns that improve regional connectivity or customer experience.
  3. Best Tourism Photo – Captivating photography that visually represents the spirit of ASEAN destinations.
  4. Best Cruise Programme – Exceptional cruise experiences highlighting ASEAN’s coastal and island tourism.
  5. Best Hotel Package – Creative and value-packed accommodation offerings designed for intra-ASEAN travelers.
  6. Best Sustainability Programme – Green initiatives that promote responsible tourism and environmental stewardship.
  7. Best New Tourism Attraction – Newly launched or significantly upgraded attractions enhancing local tourism.
  8. Best Marketing & Promotional Programme – Creative campaigns that boost destination visibility and appeal.
  9. Best Cultural Preservation – Efforts to safeguard and promote ASEAN’s rich cultural heritage.
  10. Best Eco-Lodge – Unique and sustainable accommodations set in nature, offering authentic local experiences.
  11. Best Convention Centre – Venues that lead in service, technology, and sustainability for business events.
  12. Best Tour Operator – Exceptional travel organizers delivering high-quality, immersive regional experiences.

These awards aim to highlight the innovation, creativity, and impact of tourism players across Southeast Asia, from grassroots initiatives to large-scale campaigns. Submissions are open until 31 October 2025, and winners will be celebrated at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2026 in Cebu, Philippines, this coming January. ASEANTA welcomes entries from across the region, tourism boards, travel operators, media, local communities, and private-sector players.

Alongside the award launch, ASEANTA introduced the Discover ASEAN Microsite, an initiative co-developed by MOVE in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat. The microsite is accessible via the MOVE app’s homepage, and it features curated recommendations on food, culture, and destinations across ASEAN countries, alongside verified travel requirements, links to each country’s official immigration websites, and up-to-date health and safety guidelines.

The content is drawn from ASEAN’s official tourism website and verified by the respective National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), ensuring accuracy and reliability for travellers. By consolidating this information and integrating access to book flights, hotels, and other travel services within the MOVE app, the microsite significantly lowers barriers to intra-ASEAN travel and encourages greater regional mobility. This collaboration also reinforces MOVE’s position as a strategic digital partner in ASEAN’s tourism development and digital transformation efforts.

The event was attended by leaders from the ASEAN Secretariat, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, AirAsia MOVE, national tourism associations, ASEANTA board members, and media representatives.

With the launch of these initiatives, ASEANTA affirms its role in championing tourism excellence, regional integration, and digital innovation, paving the way for a more connected and competitive ASEAN travel landscape.

Juli Baker and Summer is the first collaboration in the Jim Thompson Artists-in-Residence 2025: Scarf Edition, which will feature three emerging Thai artists, each invited to design prints exclusively for the brand’s iconic collection.

Chanaradee “Phaan” Chatrakul Na Ayudhya, also known as Juli Baker and Summer, is a writer, artist, and enthusiastic traveler. Her paintings are characterized by vivid, semi-abstract shapes, and color palettes that evoke the warmth of summer. Conveying layered themes of womanhood, her compositions often depict young women, both relaxed and emotionally overwhelmed, with stylized brushstrokes and excerpts of her handwriting to present an array of her subjects’ emotions.  Both Jim Thompson and Juli Baker and Summer believe that design is more than aesthetics—it is a powerful medium for storytelling.

The collection consists of three floral silk scarf prints, entitled Alisa, Plath’s Fig Tree, and Mom’s Sunflower, each representing a love letter to mothers, daughters, and the many roles women play. The dream-like tones blend memories, femininity, and floral imagery into something joyful, yet reflective. Each piece showcases the expressive quality of Juli Baker and Summer’s original hand-painted artworks.

  • Alisa is a tribute to the artist’s grandmother. When she could no longer walk to the garden, the family would bring her flowers from around their home, including bougainvillea, hibiscus, and yellow elder that are present in the design.
  • Plath’s Fig Tree is an homage to the late American author, Sylvia Plath. The artwork was inspired by a passage in her first novel, The Bell Jar, which made the artist reflect on the lives of her mother and grandmother, how their dreams were shaped or sacrificed under the weight of gender roles and societal expectations.
  • Mom’s Sunflower represented the artist’s recollection of a letter her mother wrote to her after she took her on a trip to Japan. The letter was signed off with the gentle words, “Thank you, my little sunflower. May you bloom wherever you go”.

Chef Tsai Shih Wei and Chef Arnaud Dunand Present “Bonjour Le Dragon” - TRAVELINDEXBangkok, Thailand, August 07, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Following his July collaboration with Chef Naka Xiong from the acclaimed Odette in Singapore, Chef Tsai Shih Wei once again invites diners to a celebration of two culinary styles across continents. This time, the French story continues in Bangkok with “Bonjour Le Dragon”, a 9-course dinner with Chef Arnaud Dunand, evian Chef Ambassador and the Michelin-starred chef-owner of Maison Dunand.

Taking place on 15–16 August at Chai Jia Chai, this is a meeting of traditions and terroir, where contemporary French techniques intertwine with the layered depth of modern Chinese cuisine. Each chef will present four dishes, culminating in a co-created abalone course — the symbolic centrepiece of this East meets West narrative.

With 15 August already fully booked, a few seats are available for 16 August.
