Tanzania's New Lemala Osonjoi Lodge - TRAVELINDEXNgorongoro Crater, Tanzania, February 5, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Travel Promoters, recently appointed as UK Sales & Marketing representatives for Lemala Camps & Lodges and sister company Adrift in East Africa, has hit the ground running ahead of the launch of Lemala Osonjoi Lodge, which is due to welcome its first guests on 15th July 2025.

Dynamic duo, Lemala’s CEO Director of Operations Leanne Haigh and Head of Sales & Marketing James Haigh, will be visiting the UK during the last week of February and will,  along with the Travel Promoters’ team, be hosting a series of launch events across the country including private lunches and dinners in London, Alderley Edge, Chester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Dorking and Brighton as well as product meetings and training sessions in between.

The new Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is being built on a hill just back from the Ngorongoro Crater rim, and has been named after the Osonjoi trees, which hold both symbolic and medicinal significance for the local Maasai. The lodge will feature 16 suites with king-size beds and beautiful en-suite bathrooms – with the views taking centre stage via large picture windows throughout. Each suite will also have a cosy nook with double bed for relaxing which can also double up as an extra sleeping area.  A slow-burn wood stove will provide a warm atmosphere and keep guests toasty when the cool mist rolls in, with the lodge located at around 8000 feet.

There will also be two 2-bedroomed suites to accommodate families or up to four adults and two children travelling together.  Suites will be light and beautifully decorated blending African chic with a twist of stylish Nordic design.

Ideally located just 10 minutes’ drive from the Lemala Gate, Osonjoi guests will be amongst the first to arrive and last to leave the crater floor each day, ensuring a less crowded, unhurried wildlife experience.  Activities will include daily game drives and escorted walks with a Maasai guide.

The addition of Onsonjoi will complete Lemala’s circuit of Tanzanian lodges including Arusha at Hamerkop House by Lemala, Mpingo Ridge in Tarangire and Nanyukie and Kuria Hills in the Serengeti.

Meliá Pattaya Hotel Opens in Tribute to History and Culture

900 599 wttc2

Meliá Pattaya Hotel Opens in Tribute to History and Culture - TRAVELINDEXPattaya, Thailand, February 3, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Meliá Pattaya Hotel, a 234-room hotel that pays homage to Pattaya’s ethnic diversity and commands expansive views of the Gulf of Thailand, will open its doors to guests on February 15.

Situated in vibrant Pattaya, a short drive from Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand’s east coast, the hotel stands 12 stories high on Second Road, known as Pattaya Sai Song, near an array of attractions.

In addition to its sun-soaked Lay Beach Club on Beach Road fronting Pattaya Beach, Meliá Pattaya Hotel will cut the ribbon on a rooftop restaurant with a sky bar, an executive lounge, swimming pool with an adjacent bar and function lawn, Meliá’s signature YHI Spa, kids club Kidsdom, a fully-equipped gym, coworking space, collection of versatile meeting spaces and more.

Launched by Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International and owned by Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group Asset World Corporation (AWC), the five-star hotel is part of the Meliá brand’s rollout in key destinations across Thailand. Meliá Pattaya Hotel, Thailand’s debut follows the openings of Meliá Koh Samui in 2020, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao in 2021, Meliá Chiang Mai in 2022 and INNSiDE By Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit in 2023.

The hotel’s food and beverage outlets collectively reference Pattaya’s diversity of people, their shrines, and markets, especially the longstanding Chinese communities of Chonburi. The hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar, Yitong Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar, will serve Cantonese cuisine with some Sichuan choices in a setting characterised by pops of red, complemented by black and gold trimmings. Its views of the Gulf make the most of Pattaya’s renowned sunsets.

Specialising in fresh, locally sourced seafood, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant Sanehh Sarae tells the story of Pattaya’s Bang Saray fishing village. It is adjacent to Meliá Pattaya Hotel’s Japanese-Peruvian Nikkei restaurant Den, which pays tribute to nearby “Little Japanese Town” Si Racha and the influx of Japanese expats to the Kingdom during the “Thailand 3.0” economic era focused on heavy industry and exports.

From the moment guests set foot in the hotel, the cultural immersion experience begins with a lobby and lounge inspired by Nong Mon Market. Its surfaces reference the dish Khao Lam; sticky rice roasted in bamboo sold at the morning market. The hotel’s pool bar embraces Jomtien Beach’s culture and winks at the influx of Americans to Pattaya in the 60s and 70s.

Ranging from a convenient 27 sqm to a generous 125sqm, the hotel’s 218 rooms and 16 suites fall into seven accommodation categories for leisure and business travellers alike. The 27sqm Deluxe Rooms and Deluxe Sea View Rooms feature king or twin beds and window-side sofa.

The Premium Room and The Level Premium Sea View Room are each 31 sqm with the latter offering, as the name suggests, views of the Gulf’s azure waters. There are also one- and two-bedroom The Level suites that span 61 to 125 sqm respectively, including The Level Presidential Suite.

Of the property’s room portfolio, 18 rooms and 16 suites will belong to ‘The Level’, an upgraded level of personalised service and benefits that includes exclusive access to The Level Lounge on the hotel’s second floor. An intimate area for indulging an upgraded breakfast and afternoon delicacies that is also suited for casual business meetings, The Level Lounge is fronted by a pre-function room and is adjacent to the hotel’s ballroom Nuaan. The patterned solid wood interiors of the lounge, pre-function room and ballroom are inspired by the Baan Puek Weaving Community.

There will be plenty on offer for families with the swimming pool featuring a thrilling slide and the kids club offering Meliá’s signature kids entertainment program. With a design that deploys an “under the sea” theme inspired by Koh Pai Island and its wreck dive site, the hotel’s Kidsdom will host a variety of engaging yet educational activities.

The hotel is also home to two ballrooms, that usher in an abundance of natural light and feature LED screen technology, as well as three meeting rooms and a co-working space.

Located in the heart of the action in ‘Central Pattaya’, Meliá Pattaya Hotel affords easy access to attractions such as Pattaya Beach, Walking Street, Central Festival Pattaya, Terminal21 Shopping Mall, wooden temple Sanctuary of Truth, and Bali Hai Pier. Islands such as Koh Larn are strewn just offshore, offering idyllic spots for swimming and snorkelling.

“Meliá Pattaya Hotel is part of AWC’s mixed use The Aquatique Destinations Pattaya project and a flagship project of our strategic roll-out of the Meliá brand in Thailand, aligned with AWC’s Lifestyle Destination,” said Mrs Wallapa Traisorat, Meliá Pattaya Hotel’s owner and AWC’s CEO and President. “Meliá Pattaya Hotel will redefine luxury hospitality in one of Thailand’s most iconic beachside destinations, reflecting AWC’s commitment to be part of strengthening Thailand as global sustainable destination.”

Azerai La Residence, Hue

Azerai La Residence, Hue captures the unique spirit of Tet with special menus, local excursions, stay packages and of course a vibrant Dragon Dance on Jan. 29, marking the beginning of the Year of the Wooden Snake, as lucky red envelopes (li xi) are handed out to guests.

The hotel’s exclusive Tet Package features a two-night stay in a Superior River View room, daily breakfast for two adults and one child under 12 years old (sharing existing bedding with parents), a Tet dinner menu and Tet afternoon tea for two people, and a one-way airport pick-up or drop-off service from Phu Bai Airport. The package is priced at VND 9,990,000.

Azerai La Residence, Hue also introduces several elevated culinary offerings for the Tet holiday season, including a special Tet Buffet Breakfast, available from Jan. 19 to Feb. 16, as well as the Azerai La Residence, Hue Tet Menu served just four days, from Jan. 28-31, spotlighting the iconic tastes of the season. The hotel also offers a Tet Afternoon High Tea, Tet Unlabeled Tea Tasting and Tet Special Cocktail menu at Le Gouverneur Bar.

The hotel’s popular La Residence Foodfest on Jan. 15 kicks off the Tet season with delectable live cooking stations with Hue culinary favorites, plus a hot dish buffet, salad bar, dessert station and more.

Exclusive tours during Tet include a Half-Day Spring Tour that begins at Kim Dai Pagoda with morning chanting, Buddhist blessings and peaceful tea time with the head monk. Next stop is Khai Dinh Mausoleum, known for its unique fusion of Vietnamese and European architecture. Finally, the tour concludes with a visit to Hon Chen Temple, a place of worship for both Champa and Vietnamese deities. The tour is priced at VND 2,400,000.

The hotel has also introduced a special 3-hour Flower Market Tour in a hotel limousine that’s perfect for admiring natural beauty and snapping some memorable photographs.

The La Residence Tet Charity Corner, which operates from Jan. 15 to Feb. 28 in the hotel, offers souvenirs handmade by disabled artisans from the Hope Center Hue, a charitable foundation that provides vocational and work opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people.

Azerai La Residence, Hue, with 122 rooms and suites, is centered on a colonial mansion that was built in 1930 as part of the residence of the French Resident Superieur. The mansion’s distinctive façade, including its long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes, are hallmarks of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture.

Azerai Ke Ga Bay

The beachside Azerai Ke Ga Bay in southern Vietnam has unveiled five days of family friendly Tet activities starting on Jan. 28, with a morning beach volleyball game on the expansive white sand. Later, an exclusive Afternoon Tea will be served in the sophisticated surrounds of The Living Room. The special Vietnamese high tea will be offered daily throughout the Tet holiday. Children are also invited to make their own kites and fly them at the beach.

The next morning, on Jan. 29, guests are invited to a complimentary surfing class with experienced instructors, who will teach beginners and young adventurers (over 8 years old) how to ride the waves and embrace the thrill of the ocean in a safe and fun environment. A fun-filled kids’ activity will involve coloring the snake – as the Year of the Wooden Snake begins.

That evening, a special Traditional Tet Menu will be served, sparking nostalgia with flavors that hearken back to the cherished dishes of many Vietnamese childhoods. Standout dishes include Braised Dry Bamboo with Pork Belly and Duck Egg; Steamed Calamari with Ginger, Onion and Cellery; and Pan-Seared Half Sun-Dried Mackeral with Sweet and Sour Sauce; among several others. Booking is essential.

More fun will be on offer on Jan. 30, with a bodyboarding class and an exciting cooking class and lion dance practice for children.

The highlight of Jan. 31 will be a delectable BBQ dinner with live spring music and a captivating Siva dance performance. Bookings are essential. Earlier in the day, guests will have a chance to enjoy kayaking in the sea with an instructor and learn about the distinct charms and styles of Asian calligraphy. Young guests under 12 years old will also be invited to enjoy a complimentary Children’s Massage.

A lively lion dance brings the Tet festivities at Azerai Ke Ga Bay to a close on Feb. 1. The dragon holds a revered status in Eastern culture as one of four sacred spirits. It symbolizes supernatural power capable of warding off malevolent forces while ushering in good fortune, peace, happiness and robust health. It’s a chance for luck and prosperity in the year ahead.

Azerai Ke Ga Bay, located a comfortable 2.5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City on a new highway, is nestled amongst 4.5 hectares of verdant gardens, framed to the east by Hon Ba Island with its historic lighthouse and to the west by soaring sand dunes. This unique and picturesque location provides a tranquil setting, ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor Welcomes Top Khmer Artist - TRAVELINDEXSiem Reap, Cambodia, January 11, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Channy Chhoeun is known for his acrylic paintings of birds and his environmental perspective. Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, the luxury heritage hotel on the doorstep of ancient Khmer archeological sites in Cambodia, will host an exhibition by the renowned local painter Channy Chhoeun for the next several months.

The hotel will display Channy’s paintings in its elegant public areas and award-winning restaurants following an official launch event with the artist on Saturday, Jan. 18, and they will remain on view until the end of April. Channy’s exhibition, titled ‘Wild Spirits, Sacred Symbols’, is part of the 93-year-old Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor’s ongoing art and cultural series.

Channy is known for his striking acrylic paintings, particularly those depicting birds. His artworks serve as a social commentary on man’s impact on the environment and have been praised for their unique aesthetic properties. Channy, a former hunter, says he cultivated a deep respect for wildlife as he came to better understand the threats animals face in the modern world. This shift in perspective, he says, influences his artistic expression.

Channy has been spotlighted by an international tour and travel operator in its ‘Local Legends’ programme, allowing visitors to travel to the remote village of Wat Avtea, south of Siem Reap, to tour Channy’s home studio and see a gallery showcasing his works.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor’s exclusive ‘Culinary Journeys,’ introduced last year, offer guests new ways to experience Siem Reap’s rich culture and history, while its on-site ‘Resort Programme’ showcases heritage and traditions at the hotel.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor originally opened in 1932 as a rest stop for archeologists and adventurers exploring the kingdom of Angkor Wat, which is today one of the world’s most popular UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Travel + Leisure magazine named Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor one of the world’s ‘500 Best Hotels’ for a third-consecutive year in April last year.
