Roving Bushtops to Migrate to Northern Serengeti

600 450 wttc2

Roving Bushtops to Migrate to Northern Serengeti - TRAVELINDEXSerengeti National Park, Tanzania, October 13, 2024 / TRAVELINDEX / Bushtops Camps in East Africa is thrilled to announce that  Roving Bushtops in Tanzania will have a new seasonal base in the north of Serengeti National Park from 1st June 2025.

The mobile camp has traditionally moved twice a year, in sync with the migration herds, between the central  and southern Serengeti. However, Bushtops has now secured a wonderful new location in the northern Serengeti, just 15-minutes’ drive from the Mara River and Kogatende airstrip.  This means that the mobile camp will now rove between the southern and northern Serengeti only.

The terrain in the north makes for fantastic game viewing – and the vistas are gorgeous, stretching away to both sunset and sunrise and in close proximity to the Mara River and Bologna for incredible rhino sightings. This means that from December to March Roving Bushtops will be in Kusini in the south, before folding up, as if by magic (watch the amazing timelapse setup video here!), and moving to its new base in the northern Serengeti from June until October. The new location is around 17 kilometres (a 40-minute game drive ) from Serengeti Bushtops, making it easier than ever to combine both Tanzanian camps within a single visit, or even better, to add Mara Bushtops just over the Kenyan border, making visits trebly memorable.

“This strategic move allows us to provide our guests with unparalleled access to the Serengeti’s most spectacular wildlife events,” said owners Andrew and Claudia Stuart. “By concentrating on the southern and northern Serengeti, we can ensure our guests enjoy front row seats to all  the migration action.”

Bushtops offers unparalleled “wild luxury” safaris in East Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. The family-owned portfolio includes Mara Bushtops in Kenya’s Masai Mara as well as Serengeti Bushtops and Roving Bushtops in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.   Roving Bushtops is a mobile camp that strategically relocates between the southern and northern Serengeti following the Great Migration herds. Each property provides five-star accommodation under canvas, expert guides and personalized service, all while maintaining a commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism practices.

The Anam Cam Ranh Unveils Suite of Romance Experiences

900 599 wttc2

The Anam Cam Ranh Unveils Suite of Romance Experiences - TRAVELINDEXCam Ranh, Vietnam, Octob er 9, 2024 / TRAVELINDEX / The Anam Cam Ranh doesn’t necessarily expect to be the same setting for any couple’s proposal, wedding, honeymoon and renewal of vows, but a host of remarkable new packages invites such a possibility.

The experiences leverage a storybook setting on Vietnam’s Cam Ranh peninsula, replete with uninterrupted views of toast-brown sands, turquoise waters, dramatic headlines and islands offshore that come together as one of Vietnam’s most picture-perfect seaside enclaves. Since its 2017 grand opening, the 12-hectare resort has celebrated countless proposals, weddings and honeymoons.

The Anam Cam Ranh’s proposal experience is anchored by a private candle-lit dining set-up on the resort’s beach, by one of its three unusually compelling swimming pools or in the privacy of a private-pool villa. A four-course menu is cooked by a private chef and served by a private waiter, with two Asian menus and two Western menus to choose from. The ‘Romantic Dinner’ menus feature the likes of entrees ‘Banana flower salad with Bay scallops, oyster Florentina’ and ‘Field mushroom cappuccino with pancetta wrapped scallops and garlic crostini’ and mains ‘Steamed fresh grouper with shitake mushroom sauce and spring onion’ and ‘West Coast pink roasted rack of lamb with Mediterranean vegetable timbale garlic candies’.

Weddings range from an intimate ceremony for two on the beachfront or vast lawn to a larger formal dining arrangement for up to 500 family and friends. Sweeteners for the bride and groom include a live guitarist and violinist during the ceremony, all sorts of exquisite flower arrangements, and a three-tier wedding cake.

“Our resort’s meticulous wedding planner sees to every last detail for the occasion of a lifetime, saving the bride and groom the often immense stress of orchestrating a wedding themselves,” said The Anam Group’s commercial director Martin Koerner.

“There is also scope for wedding ceremonies and receptions to be staged at the adjacent beachfront Axi Plaza, a multifunctional convention centre with a design inspired by Vietnam’s ubiquitous coracle boat. A state-of-the-art conference hall, a 360-degree rooftop venue, and a stunning outdoor beachfront event space are among Axi Plaza’s highlights.”

With a design inspired by Vietnam’s Indochine era, the 180-square-metre ‘Honeymoon Villas’ are both set on 400 square metres of lush hillside land located adjacent to the grounds of the resort’s tranquil 10-treatment room spa. The picture-perfect one-bedroom villas each feature a separate living room, jacuzzi, steam and sauna room and private terrace with sun loungers overlooking a glassy-surfaced 40-square-metre private pool. The villas’ romantic appeal draws on the Indochine period with the likes of imperial style roofs, big-bellied water vases, lanterns, and customized mosaic tiles.

A private BBQ in the villa, a romantic ritual at The Anam Spa including a body scrub, Sothys Paris facial and moisturizing milk bath, and movies on the beach are among the honeymoon experiences on offer.

The Honeymoon Villas come with complimentary daily afternoon tea, served either in the privacy of the villa, at The Colonial fine dining restaurant that features a quaint courtyard or a scenic spot such as amid the resort’s verdant gardens or on Long Beach.

Like the wedding packages, the renewal of vows packages also feature a night’s stay in a Premium Room or Garden View Villa, with free upgrades depending on availability.

A myriad of lush settings across the resort, including reflecting ponds, manicured lawns, and cobblestone pathways framed by established greenery, make for striking pre-wedding and wedding photo backdrops.

With “Indochine Charm” and “Modern Luxury” as its watchwords, the group blends colonial-era aesthetics and attentive Vietnamese service with modern comforts and convenience. “The Anam” today is a reference to another name, “An Nam”, which was the name of Central Vietnam during the French Indochina era.

The Anam Cam Ranh overlooks 300 metres of beachfront on Vietnam’s scenic Cam Ranh peninsula, which averages more than 300 sunny days per year. The luxurious five-star resort boasts 77 villas and 136 rooms and suites. The Anam Cam Ranh.

Thailand’s INNSiDE Hotel Lauded by Nat Geo Traveller UK Hotel Awards

900 501 wttc2

Thailand's INNSiDE Hotel Lauded by Nat Geo Traveller UK Hotel Awards - TRAVELINDEXBangkok, Thailand, October 7, 2024 / TRAVELINDEX /  INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit has clinched a coveted spot in the prestigious National Geographic Traveller (UK)’s 2024 Hotel Awards, taking out the title of the world’s best “Budget Break” hotel.

The UK edition of National Geographic Traveller announced on October 3 the winners and runners-up of its annual Hotel Awards, designed to spotlight the world’s best new and improved hotels.

“We’ve searched the planet for the world’s best hotels. Here are our picks,” National Geographic Traveller (UK) said. “It’s been an epic year for hotel openings, revamps and extensions, and we’ve scoured the globe for the best of them. Whether you want to tune into the jungle from a treehouse, sleep in a piece of history or watch the sun set over mountain peaks from your bed, you’re guaranteed a memorable stay from our winners and runners-up.”

INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit was deemed the winner of “Budget Break” award category. The House of Gods in Scotland and Interno Marche in Italy were the category’s runners-up. “Wallet-friendly prices don’t have to come at the cost of style or substance, as these three hotels illustrate,” National Geographic Traveller (UK) said.

The publication applauded the 208-room INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit for its “clutch of bars, restaurants and communal workspaces” and “crowning glory: a glass-bottomed infinity pool overlooking the metropolis”.

“In a city increasingly dominated by ultra-luxe hotels, INNSiDE is something of a palate cleanser,” the publication said. “In Bangkok’s On Nut neighbourhood — a short train ride away from the Thai capital’s main action — this light and bright place offers an upscale stay without the matching price tag. Inside, the hotel has embraced a white palette with subtle nods to the city’s landmarks, with wavy ceilings that evoke the flow and majesty of the Chao Phraya River, and gold accents resembling the spires of the Wat Pho and Wat Phra Kaew temples. The restrained interiors are a wise choice that allows the spectacular sky-rise views to shine. The views provide a glittering urban backdrop for a swim, or for sunset tapas at the bar on the floor just below.”

INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit general manager Aarron Nelson said he and his team were “over the moon our hotel’s name is in lights with Nat Geo Traveller”.

“Since our hotel’s debut in July 2023, its Asian translation of the INNSiDE brand has truly resonated with all sorts of terrific travellers, connecting us with a wider, global audience, and this award win is testament to that,” he said. “Towering over On Nut, our hotel has many standout attributes ranging from a compelling design that references some of Bangkok’s most famous landmarks, integrated co-working spaces and a 33rd floor rooftop tapas bar where diners peer into the bottom of our 34th floor infinity pool.”

The winners and runners-up appear in the publication’s November issue out now in the UK and online. Other award categories include “Revamped Hotel”, “Romantic Bolthole”, “City Star”, “Food Hero”, “Beach Sanctuary”, “Wellness Haven”, “Remote Sleep”, “Clever Conversion”, “Eco-stay”, “Mountain Refuge”, and “One-of-a-kind”.

INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit is the newest member of an eclectic collection of urban and beach INNSiDE hotels — in 14 different countries across Asia, Europe, and the Americas — designed for those with curious minds who have a fluid lifestyle when it comes to work and leisure.

Balinese Resort Sets the Scene for Sweet Dreams

900 544 wttc2

Balinese Resort Sets the Scene for Sweet Dreams - TRAVELINDEXBali, Indonesia, October 4, 2024 / TRAVELINDEX / We curate museums, we curate our music and now one enterprising resort on the Island of the Gods is curating sleep to ensure the sweetest of dreams.

Designed for travelers who are looking to relax, refresh and rest, while on vacation ‘The Art of Slumber’ package from Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana, contains elements designed to promote rejuvenating sleep. Highlights include a 90-minute signature Tanah Gajah Jade Massage. The resort’s signature massage ritual is designed to relieve deep tension and restore energy flow with a combination of Shiatsu, Balinese, Thai, Swedish, and Lomi-Lomi massage techniques.

To help declutter on a mental and spiritual level, ‘The Art of Slumber’ guests will also take part in Melukat, a purification ceremony held on property. This water-based ritual helps people let go and mentally shed what they need to in order to feel more calm and centered.

The stretching, kneading and cleansing alone is likely to send guests straight to sleep but Tanah Gajah has added even more melatonin-inducing icing to its metaphorical sleep cake. There’s a three course sleep-inducing dinner designed by the resort’s longtime chef, Chef Dean. Post-dinner guests will return to their villa to listen to a curated Spotify playlist of ambient music as a serenade to a special sleep turndown service that includes a sleepy tea of chamomile, pandan, and ginger. There is also a complimentary incense set-up in the room for those wish to enjoy some meditation before turning in for the evening.

Slumber guests can also enjoy the resort’s daily morning yoga sessions from 7:30 – 9am, if they’re not sleeping in.

Sleep tourism is emerging as one of the biggest travel trends of this year, according to Booking com’s Travel Predictions for 2024. The popular booking site released data showing that more than half (58%) of travelers wanted to book a sleep retreat in 2024 (based on a 2023 global survey of 27,730 adults). Another recent study by luxury travel goods brand, Carl Friedrik, showed that nine out of ten Americans wanted to embrace slow travel.

“Tanah Gajah was originally built as a place to be able to slow down and retreat from the fast-paced city life of Jakarta,” explained Deasy Swandarini, general manager of the resort. “It began as the vacation home of the Hadiprana family. This is where they came to wind down and we continue that ethos today.”

The property has kept much of the secluded charm from its days as a holiday home. Hidden away amid lush rice paddies on the outskirts of Ubud, the boutique resort is blanketed with the sounds of nature. Its meandering pathways, spacious gardens, and deep connection to the local landscape further invite visitors to slow down physically and mentally in a tranquil destination.

To further take the stress out of travel, guests can enjoy club benefits. These include a welcome drink, butler service, daily a la carte breakfast, seasonal fresh fruits delivered to the villa or suite, afternoon tea from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Panen Padi Lounge, sunset cocktails from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Tempayan Restaurant, complimentary minibar including alcohol selections (replenished once daily), laundry service of up to six pieces per villa per day (excluding dry cleaning), car service to/from Ubud Centre in a private car equipped with Wi-Fi, additional yoga classes as per hotel schedule, a guided rice paddy trekking along the rice fields and neighboring village, and a one time photo session and one complimentary digital photo.

Prices start at USD 2,140 nett for a two-night stay for two people. The offer is available until March 31st, 2025.
